• Managing time, energy, and distractions
• Lessons learned from years that didn’t go as planned

Giving Back To The Community🌟

Last Friday afternoon, the Commonwealth Alumni Association of Zambia and Chevening Alumni Association of Zambia, in partnership with the British Council and Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, visited Chainda Open Community School in Ibex.

Our Alumni from both associations spoke to the pupils about the Importance of education, opportunities after high school and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—their curiosity and excitement were inspiring.

We also donated 175 textbooks, gave away some school bags and mathematical sets.

The Commonwealth Alumni Association of Zambia (CAAZ) joins the nation in mourning the passing of His Excellency Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, Sixth President of the Republic of Zambia. As a statesman and servant leader, Dr. Lungu upheld the values of unity, peace, and public service, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered with deep respect and national pride. His unwavering commitment to the Zambian people and to the principles of democracy continues to inspire members of the Commonwealth community.

In this time of great sorrow, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Lungu family and the people of Zambia. We pray that the Almighty God grants eternal rest to His Excellency and strengthens all those who mourn. *“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted”* (Matthew 5:4). May his soul rest in perfect peace. 🕊️🇿🇲

Honouring Our Roots This Women’s and Youth Day

This year, in celebrating Women’s Day and Youth Day, we chose to honour the older generation—the very reason we’re here today. As CAAZ, we visited *Matero After Care Centre* in Lusaka, under the Ministry of Community Development. The centre cares for 44 elderly citizens, many of whom were abandoned or have no family, providing them with daily support from feeding to bathing.

The centre is inclusive, housing residents with various disabilities—including one talented man who, despite being deaf and mute, captures incredible photos, like the ones shared by CAAZ. Weekly activities such as Bible lessons, football, and free counselling uplift and encourage the residents.

Fulfilling a special request, we donated 10 fresh chickens, 5kg beef, Kapenta, 4 bags of mealie meal, and essential toiletries.

This initiative was made possible through alumni membership contributions. While we would have loved to include more people, we kept the group small to protect our senior citizens.
