We are excited to welcome 20 Peer Educators and young people from the AHF Zambia Young People's Program across Lusaka, Central, Southern, and Copperbelt Provinces as they begin their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's International Award journey! 🎉

Their participation demonstrates the flexibility of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Framework, showing how it can be integrated into diverse youth development programmes to equip young people with essential human skills such as resilience, critical thinking, creativity, leadership, communication, and problem-solving.

We are proud to partner with AHF Zambia in empowering young people to reach their full potential. As they embark on this exciting journey, we are shining a spotlight on a few of our Peer Educators and sharing what they are most looking forward to achieving through the Award.

Here's to growth, service, and new possibilities! 🌟

🌟 ANOTHER GOLD STAR SHINING BRIGHT! 🌟

There are moments when we pause, smile and say: This is why the Award matters.” 💜

Today, we celebrate Chimwemwe Malokota, one of our outstanding Gold Award Alumni, on an exceptional achievement as she graduates from the University of York with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and receives the Outstanding Award for her performance in Legal Practice Technology and Computer Science. ⚖️🎓🏆

What makes this moment even more special for us is knowing that Chimwemwe's journey extends far beyond the classroom.

Last year, she was one of just two Zambian young people selected to represent Zambia at the International Gold Event (IGE) / International Forum in Nigeria, an experience that brought together young Award participants from across the world to connect, learn, exchange ideas and celebrate the spirit of the Award. 🇿🇲🌍

Today, we see another chapter of that journey unfolding.

In her own words, this achievement comes after “one of the most challenging academic years” of her life making the recognition all the more meaningful. It is a powerful reminder that perseverance through difficult seasons can lead to extraordinary outcomes.

✨ From Gold Award participant…
🌍 To representing Zambia internationally…
⚖️ To graduating in Law…
🏆 To being recognised for academic excellence…

Chimwemwe's story is a beautiful example of what happens when young people are given opportunities to challenge themselves, discover their strengths, build confidence and keep going even when the journey gets tough.

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is about much more than completing activities or earning a certificate.

It is about developing resilience, perseverance, confidence, teamwork, leadership and a determination to keep moving forward.

And when we see our Gold Alumni shining in universities, professions, communities and on international platforms, we are reminded that the skills developed through the Award can become part of the foundation for a lifetime of achievement. 💜

Congratulations, Chimwemwe!🎉

Your Award family in Zambia is incredibly proud of you. Keep shining, keep challenging yourself and keep showing the world what young Zambians are capable of.

And to every young person currently pursuing their Award: your journey matters. Keep going. Your next chapter could be extraordinary. ✨

Some moments remind us exactly why we do what we do!

There are few things more rewarding than watching young people grow into leaders who are transforming their communities, their professions and our nation. Today, we celebrate two outstanding Gold Award Alumni whose remarkable achievements continue to inspire us all.

✨ Congratulations to Mwaba Mwila, Gold Award Holder and current Board Member of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Zambia, on being honoured as Africa's Most Respected CEO in Eco-Tourism at the 6th Edition of Africa's Most Respected CEOs Conference and Awards, held on 28 July 2026 at the Grand Palace Hotel in Lusaka. This distinguished recognition by The Business Executive Group celebrates his outstanding excellence and leadership in Africa's tourism sector.

👏 We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to Chanda Chungu, Gold Award Holder, UCT Law alumnus and current PhD candidate in Public Law, who has been recognised by the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) with two prestigious national awards:
🏆 The Publication Prize for the highest number of publications by a junior lawyer in the Association's 50-year history.
🏆 The Excellence Award for his exceptional contribution to Zambia's jurisprudence through his pro bono legal work.

Their achievements are powerful reminders that success is built long before recognition arrives.

The Gold Award is more than an accolade, it is a journey of resilience, service, leadership, adventure and perseverance. Through challenging experiences, young people discover their strengths, develop the human skills employers and communities value, and build the confidence to pursue lives of purpose and impact.

Today, Mwaba and Chanda stand as living proof of what is possible when young people are given the opportunity to grow beyond the classroom.

Their stories strengthen our belief that every young person in Zambia deserves access to The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. Investing in non-formal education is investing in future CEOs, changemakers, innovators, professionals and servant leaders who will shape Zambia and the world.

Congratulations once again, Mwaba and Chanda. Your achievements make the entire Award family immensely proud, and we cannot wait to celebrate many more inspiring journeys.
