On 9 August 2025, The Local Voice Literacy Network, in partnership with Edu Flare Foundation, successfully held the pilot session of our inclusive digital literacy program – “Inklusi Digilit”. The program is aimed at providing tailored digital and computer skills to children living with disabilities, particularly those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or visually impaired.

During the pilot, children engaged in collective learning supported by sign language interpreters and descriptive educators, allowing them to communicate, learn and laugh together despite their different challenges in a truly inclusive environment.

This pilot marks the beginning of our journey towards establishing Inklusi Digilit Hubs in selected schools. These hubs will serve as inclusive spaces offering:

1. Digital literacy for children with disabilities
2. Training and resources for teachers and caregivers
3. Digital financial literacy for parents, teachers and women in the community

We are deeply grateful to Periculum Institute for hosting the session, to Lusaka Girls Secondary School and Munali Girls Secondary School for their support, and to the parents and caregivers for their trust.

This initiative aligns with Zambia’s digitalization agenda and the SDGs, ensuring that children with disabilities are not left behind in accessing digital knowledge, self-expression, and future employment opportunities.

We look forward to collaborating with partners, sponsors, and stakeholders to scale this initiative and ensure an inclusive digital future.
