Our members had an amazing opportunity of attending the 4th Annual Jubilee hosted by the Pan African Adolescent Girls Movement with the Foundation for adolescent girls and young people in zambia. and My Kiota
The theme for this year's annual jubilee was L.E.V.E.L UP focusing on helping young girls unlock their full potential and identity and how they can contribute to the future of Africa.
°
The event provided a safe inclusive platform for girls to talk about issues such as mental health that directly affect their lives and amidst current trends it's important to acknowledge how such issues also affect person's with disabilities and how they can protect their sanity.

What better way to start the month than by building our knowledge on how best we can advocate for an inclusive society?

Earlier this August, our team and members had the amazing opportunity to attend an Advocacy Training and Awareness Workshop hosted by the Zambia Federation of Disability Organisations (ZAFOD) as part of the RISE/E Project being implemented by Sightsavers.

From learning about global and national policy frameworks to learning how to design impactful advocacy plans with clear, targeted messages, to fun brain teasers and quizzes the sessions were nothing short of amazing, eye opening and insightful.

we definitely look forward to more of such trainings.

This year’s National Youth Indaba shed light on the improvement that the Government of Zambia is making in youth empowerment. With the launch of a digital platform, young people now have greater access to information on CDF, empowerment programs, and other opportunities.

While this progress is immaculate, an important question remains: How are these programs ensuring full inclusion of all persons with diverse disabilities. What mechanisms will be put in place to ensure equitable allocation of these opportunities to youth with disabilities?

Education plays an important role in the fight against gender based violence against women and girls, the more they are informed about Gender Based Violence, How to address it, how to defend themselves and the rights they have as women and girls in Zambia, the more they can be empowered to defend their rights, speak up for themselves and inspire as well as educate other young ladies and girls to do the same. Promoting inclusion while educating women and girls on Gender Based Violence will help in making sure no one is left behind in this battle.

We had the privilege of attending the Pan African Adolescent Girls Movement hosted by Foundation for adolescent girls and young people in zambia. And it was quite an interactive workshop, a room filled with young girls from all over Zambia and outside Zambia learning to take control of their dreams and lives ❤️
The workshop created safe spaces for all of us to learn and express ourselves as well as realize that our dreams are valid and it’s quite important for every young girl to know that her dreams are valid regardless of anything life might through her way, Always act like an eagle renew your wings, stand up and fly again after facing adversity.

Reflecting on August
We attended a Panel Discussion on Catalyzing Action for Gender Transformative Disability Inclusion in Drought Conditions in Zambia organized by UNFPA which highlighted the importance of including person's with disabilities in the planing and implementation of crisis plan as well as promoting inclusivity in the health sector ensuring that person's with disabilities gave access to Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and services without discrimination.

We also had an opportunity to interact with Virpi Mesiäislehto who focus on Gender, disability inclusive development and sexual reproductive health rights.
