BUSA APPOINTS SEKELANI TEMBO AS NEW GENERAL SECRETARY
Lusaka, Zambia — 10 August 2026
Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) has appointed Mr. Sekelani Tembo as its new General Secretary, as the Academy continues to strengthen its leadership and administrative structures in preparation for the next phase of its growth.
Mr. Tembo assumes the position at an important period in BUSA’s development, following significant progress in youth football, women’s football, international competitions, talent development, education support and strategic partnerships.
As General Secretary, Mr. Tembo will be responsible for providing effective administrative leadership and ensuring that the Academy’s programmes and strategic objectives are implemented efficiently.
His key responsibilities will include strengthening governance and administration, coordinating Academy programmes, improving internal and external communication, maintaining proper records and documentation, and supporting the implementation of BUSA’s strategic development plans.
He will also play a central role in stakeholder engagement, working closely with coaches, players, parents, schools, sponsors, donors, football authorities and international partners to strengthen the Academy’s network and create greater opportunities for its young athletes.
A key priority will be supporting BUSA’s continued expansion of football development pathways, ensuring that talented boys and girls receive opportunities to compete, develop academically and professionally, and progress towards higher levels of the game.
Mr. Tembo will further support the Academy’s efforts in child safeguarding, accountability, fundraising, partnerships and international football programmes, while helping to build systems that can sustain BUSA’s growth for many years to come.
The appointment is part of BUSA’s broader commitment to transitioning from a community-based football initiative into a strong, professionally managed and sustainable sports development institution.
BUSA believes that effective administration is fundamental to achieving its vision of using football as a tool for talent development, education, social transformation and opportunity creation for young people.
