Africa Call Zambia Africa Call Organisation is a Zambian NGO, the counterpart of the Italian L'Africa Chiama ONLUS-ONG (www.lafricachiama.org).

The NGO is active in the Kanyama compound, Lusaka (Zambia) since 2007 at the Shalom Centre. Africa Call has been active in Zambia since 2001 in the Copperbelt (Ndola, Luanshya and Kitwe) where it takes care of over 1.500 OVCs, including street children, in partnership with the Community of Pope John the XXIII. In 2007 Africa Call opened the Shalom Centre in Kanyama compound, south-west of Lusaka,

in order to implement projects for the benefit of the Kanyama community. In line with the law, in 2007 Africa Call was registered under the Register of Societies as a Zambian NGO.

🚛 THE TRUCK HAS ARRIVED!!
This week, we delivered to District Health Office:
🥜 7.5 tons of HEPS
🚲 5 heavy duty bicycles
📱 6 tablets.. To be distributed to more then 20 rural health facilities in support of activities, to strengthen service delivery, community outreach and data reporting capacity. 📊🌱

We also took time to visit some of our partners in the field - farmers, health workers, community volunteers, monitor some of the supported health facilities, and assess water points that need rehabilitation for and agriculture use. 💧🌾

We are grateful for the opportunity to witness, share, learn, and give our contribution to support the efforts of the Government of Zambia in providing essential services to our local communities. Notwithstanding infinite challenges and limitations, seeds of change are planted every single day 🌱

🍲Cooking Demonstrations Have Begun! 🌽
As part of the AIM Zambia Project, cooking demonstrations are now underway in 20 selected health facilities across Mumbwa and Chibombo Districts, helping mothers and caregivers learn how to prepare nutritious meals for their children using affordable, locally available foods.
At Bulungu Urban Clinic, participants prepared a variety of nutritious recipes, including:
🥣 Butternut maize meal porridge with peanut butter
🐟 R**e and kapenta in maize meal porridge
🍌 Banana yoghurt
🍠 Mashed sweet potatoes
🍊 Sweet potato custard with orange and milk
🥤 Mabuyu (Chibuyu) drink
These practical sessions demonstrate that healthy and balanced meals can be made from foods that are readily available in local communities. By promoting nutrition knowledge and the use of local ingredients, the project is supporting families in preventing malnutrition and improving child health.
Good nutrition starts at home, and local foods can make a big difference in helping children grow, learn, and thrive.

The WASH awareness and NUTRITION mass screening campaign is underway! 💧💪🏽
160 CBVs and 48 Health Workers in the districts of Chibombo, Mumbwa, and Kanyama, are finally on the ground, screening under five children for malnutrition and sensitizing communities on health and hygiene, as the campaign reaches scale.

In the past few weeks, we successfully completed a 7 days training program for 50 health workers and community-based volunteers at 📍SHALOM CENTER as part of our new project on childhood malnutrition in Kanyama.
Participants joined theoretical sessions on early detection, prevention, and care for children and mothers affected by malnutrition, followed by a day of field practice at our new and larger Shalom Shelter, where they were able to put their learning into action.

Students from Shalom Skills Center had the opportunity to visit Mayo Agro Services, gaining first-hand insight into agricultural practices and agribusiness. It was an inspiring and educational experience that connected theory with real-world application.
