SELECTIVE JUSTICE?
08/01/2026
The gift of a Toyota Hilux to Archbishop Alick Banda has sparked public interest, with the receiver appearing before the DEC on January 5, 2026. The PF Government procured Fuel Tanker Trucks for loan youth cooperative beneficiaries between 2020/2021. 50 trucks were registered and incubated to Kapesika and Petroleum Limited, with an agreement to pay cooperatives 30% of $5000 monthly. Legitimate beneficiaries received only 3 payments in 2022. However, UPND-aligned cooperatives received payments and others have continued despite registering their trucks in 2024, which is illegal. The loans for the first 50 trucks are cleared, but cooperative payment arrears aren't mentioned. Worse, beneficiaries were notified of missing documents and some files were missing at the ministry, halting the handover of Fuel Tanker Trucks in December 2025. The Office of the President and Anti-Corruption Commission are aware, yet no action has been taken. Meanwhile, the priest is summoned over the Hilux gift. Is this selective justice? The Fuel Tanker Trucks, swindled from beneficiaries, were valued at K2,000,000 each. If the UPND Government values justice, why isn't the Minister of Youths, Sports, and Art accountable? Where are the morals? It seems some individuals are immune to prosecution.
