🌍 World Haemophilia Day 2026
Theme: Diagnosis – The First Step to Care
Today, we reflect on a story that continues to inspire our work and reminds us why early diagnosis is the first step to care.
If you have never seen or heard of a heroine, here is one—Ba Egrain Ngandu from Kasamba Village, Chief Hanjalika, Mazabuka District, Southern Province.
A mother of 18 children…
Nine of her children were lost to haemophilia—a bleeding disorder that went undiagnosed for years.
For most of her life, the cause of her children’s suffering remained unknown. No answers. No treatment. No support.
Through an outreach program supported by the Novo Nordisk Haemophilia & Haemoglobinopathies Foundation (NNHF) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Zambia , this family was finally discovered.
A diagnosis was made and everything changed.
Today, her last son, Trust, is living proof of what is possible when diagnosis leads to care.
With the generous donation of clotting factor treatment by the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH), Trust’s life has been transformed.
This is the power of partnership.
This is the impact of commitment.
This is the difference between suffering and hope.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners and stakeholders, NNHF, the Ministry of Health, and WFH for their continued support and collaboration in reaching underserved communities and transforming lives.
Because diagnosis is not just a label,
It is the beginning of care, hope and life-saving treatment.
💉 Without diagnosis, there is no care.
💙 Without collaboration, families remain unreached.
🤝 Together, we are changing lives.
This World Haemophilia Day, we reaffirm our commitment to:
Expanding outreach and early diagnosis
Strengthening partnerships
Ensuring access to life-saving treatment for all
Ba Egrain’s story reminds us that no one should have to wait a lifetime for answers.
Together with our partners we can ensure diagnosis truly becomes the first step to care.
Happy World Haemophilia Day 2026 💙
