Our Story

This is our Story:

The founder, MAYABA LUBINDA having been orphaned at the age of eight, passed through hardships of life of which one of them was to look after her sick brother who was born with the HIV virus and that rob her peace of mind. She tried to look for solutions to regain her peace, but all to no avail. But time came when she was seconded by the Kapiri -Mposhi District Education Board Office. She was privileged to go and work in one of the remotest areas at Kalenda Primary School within the district in the Central Province of Zambia.

During her stay in that community she observed and realized how most of the young people were unable to go to school, and faced similar challenges as she had faced earlier in her own life as a child. After conducting intensive investigations into the cause, it was revealed that some children were born HIV positive and as such their parents or guardians never wanted to expose them to the society in fear of being discriminated and others could not afford what was required for them to get into school. This situation was discovered to have had a direct negative impact on the peace of, not only the children who should have been going to school, but also their family members, and eventually of all the people in the community in which they lived. Maya felt that no one deserved to lead such a painful life. She then thought of how she could contribute to bringing back the lost peace. The idea of establishing a foundation called PEACE GIVER was thus conceived.

Having shared the feelings with people, some identified with the feeling, and willingly teamed up to form the Peace Giver Foundation we see today.
