‎PRESIDENT - SMOBA DATES ST. MARK'S SECONDARY SCHOOL ON A FACT FINDING MISSION
‎
‎A full house made up of the President- Smoba, O'Neil Mweemba, School Board Chairperson Ngonomo Elisha, Headmistress Ntalasha Mavis and the representatives of the Diocesan Education Secretary and Mbabala Area Member of Parliament.
‎
‎The agenda of this extraordinary meeting was to physically see and appreciate the current state of the school infrastructure and also to identify key areas that need urgent attention in a quest to improve and maintain the standard of the school infrastructure. The team dedicated enough time to go through all the classrooms, dormitories, toilets/ablutions and the production unit yard.
‎
‎The house collectively identified the areas that need serious attention of the School, Church and the alumni.
‎
‎Concerns among them were: painting, plumbing and wall filling in some areas. They later resolved to write a comprehensive fact finding report that would be shared with all stakeholders.
‎
‎During the meeting, the President echoed the need of the School and the Church to go an extra mile in collaborating with other stakeholders to improve the state of infrastructure at the school. He further requested the constituency office to assist in finding means and ways of assisting the school financially as SMOBA alone would not manage to single handedly fund the works.

‎Finally the President thanked all SMOBA members for always sparing time and resources to improve the school.

Dear all,

As Executive of the St. Mark's Old Boys Association-SMOBA.

We have received the news of the passing of Zambia's 6th Republican President- Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, with profound sadness.

Dr. Lungu died this morning, 5th June 2025, in South Africa, where he was receiving routine medical treatment.

We would like to pass our sincere condolences to the former first Lady Mrs Esther Lungu, the entire family, the government, and the citizens of this great country.

May God guide Zambia in this period of national mourning, and may our immediate past Republican President rest in eternal peace.

ARCH- BISHOP AND PRIMATE OF THE PROVINCE OF CENTRAL AFRICA SOJOURNS ST.MARK'S SEC SCH

ARCH- BISHOP AND PRIMATE OF THE PROVINCE OF CENTRAL AFRICA AND AT THE SAME TIME BISHOP OF THE DIOCESE OF LUSAKA RT. REV. DR. ALBERT CHAMA today the 10th of February, 2025 visited the Anglican Mission School situated in Mapanza and founded in 1928 by Anglican missionaries, ST. MARK'S SECONDARY SCHOOL

On his working visit, he was convoyed by the Diocesan Administrator, Archdeacon of South West Ven. Fr. Busiku Sanford, the Diocesan Education Secretary Rev. Fr. Yobo Jere and the Mapanza Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Chrissy Mumba.

He had time to meet and interact to the fullest with all members of staff. In his keynote speech, he did emphasize the importance of everyone to work as a unity, he further encouraged everyone to be very hard working and accommodative to each other.

He stated that St. Mark's Secondary School is a church school hence the need to breed church values in the children and within the school. He then emphasized the importance of doing the best for the children as they are the greatness of the future.

Later in the day he met and encouraged the pupils to work extra hard. He told them to work extra hard and change the family theme from challenges and poverty to greatness. He told them that the power of a good life was in their hands and that Education was a serious equalizer. He informed them that if he was without education, he would have never found fortune to sit next to the elite in the world like the Republican President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema. Later He told a story of him sharing the same council chamber with his former Primary school teacher. He also emphasized on choosing careers rightly as all careers were very important to the development of this country and world. In his remarks he mentioned it to the pupils that gone are the days when people would assimilate priesthood to poverty. He really encouraged those willing to work for God to do so.

Finally he toured the school to familiarize with it and later bid farewell.

Once Coca-cola Champion Head teacher, the man that put his office aside in order to coach the school team until for the first time the prestigious cup landed in Mapanza at Sante Mako.

Mr. Francis Hafwiti has now gone for the FAZ Presidency. He has deligently served as FAZ Southern Province chairperson. His decision of taking a giant step of faith to unseat Andrew Kamanga is a great milestone to him his family and The St. Mark's Old Boys Association - SMOBA family.

He is not just a former Headteacher but also a former pupil of Sante Mako

Let us wish him the best.

PEO SOUTHERN TAGS ALONG
To support the national agenda of motivating a child and the teaching fraternity, Southern Province - Provincial Education Officer Dr. Oliver Kambuli tags along the promotion of uniform day.

In an interview he stated that this is a serious campaign aimed at encouraging every child to go to school. He further stated that the government has made education free for all, hence, everyone must utilize this chance and look at it as a golden opportunity to acquire the equalizer of life which is EDUCATION.

Take note he is a SMOBA Member who was at Maurice Hostel and served as Prefect also as Special to the Food Minister.
