DID YOU KNOW? You can grow veggies and fruits in a sack or plastic bottles !

That's what the Chakudya Chatu Project is all about turning small spaces into food baskets and climate action.

Hear More From Mavis

Sometimes, the most powerful stories come straight from the community. ☺️
Listen to one of the mothers from our community share what Kamwisani means to her and the impact it is making in the lives of families.

This is why we do what we do because sustainable change starts with people. ❤️

So, what exactly is the Chakudya Chathu project all about?”

Well… Faith had something to say!

Press play and let’s hear it from her!

On Saturday, 29 August 2026, we gathered at Chunga Anglican church for a powerful Climate Talk hosted by Kamwisani Youth Hub.

Led by Mavis Jacqueline Siame-Banda , we broke it all down:
🌱 What climate change really is,
⚠️ How it impacts our communities and environment, and
💪🏾 What genuine climate action looks like for us here in Zambia.

From understanding the science to exploring practical solutions like urban gardening and sustainable living, we left equipped with the tools to make a real difference. 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up ready to learn and engage. 🫶🏾

Awareness is the first step. Action is the next. Let's get to work. 🇿🇲

Here’s why mulching is important in every urban garden :
Bare soil in sacks and pots dries out fast under the Zambian sun . A layer of dry grass, leaves, maize stalks or old cardboard locks in moisture, keeps roots cool, stops weeds and feeds the soil as it breaks down.
