𝐀 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐞!

The work was completed in 2024, but the ideas behind it were always intended to go further, supporting farmers and businesses to adopt practical, climate-smart approaches and solutions that communities could continue using and building on.

Today, we look back with a simple reminder: sustainability is not only about how long an intervention runs, but what remains in place after it ends.
From farming practices and water conservation to greener approaches for local businesses, the focus was on solutions with lasting value.
And the story does not end here.

Looking back on Friday’s graduation ceremony, we are still smiling at the sight of so many proud graduates celebrating years of hard work, determination and hope for the future.

For our team, watching these young people reach this moment has been especially meaningful. We have had the privilege of walking alongside them throughout their studies, and on Friday, we were there to celebrate with them. ❤️

ADVERT FOR TECHNICAL, EDUCATION, VOCATIONAL AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING (TVET) BURSARY FOR THE 2027 ACADEMIC YEAR.

The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is implementing an Education Bursary Programme aimed at increasing access to tertiary education through bursaries for young women and men. There are 200 bursaries available for the Fouth cohort (80% female and 20% male) for program participants interested in pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related courses at selected Technical Vocation Education training for the academic year 2027. The program will target participants facing the highest social and economic barriers, with 10-15% being Persons With Disability (PWD) and 20% for refugees.
Eligibility Criteria for TVET Bursaries at FAWE Zambia
 Be aged between 15 and 25 years at the time of application.
 Must have Grade 9 or Grade 12 Ordinary Level
 Young people with disabilities, refugees, those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, and orphans (total or partial) are strongly encouraged to apply.
 Must be willing to give back to their community through development or volunteer services after completing their studies
 Must NOT be a beneficiary of any other bursary or scholarship scheme.
 Must have an acceptance letter to pursue a STEM related Graft or Diploma course at any of the following partner institutions of learning for the 2027 academic year:
1. Chipata Trades Training Institute in Chipata District
2. Lewanika College of Nursing and Midwifery – Mongu District
3. Livingstone Institute of Business & Engineering Studies (LIBES) - Livingstone District
4. Lukasha Trades Training Institute – Kasama District
5. Lukupa College of Nursing and Midwifery – Kasama District
6. Lusaka Business and Technical College in Lusaka District
7. Malcolm Moffat College of Education - Serenje District
8. Mansa School of Nursing and Midwifery – Mansa District
9. Mukinge School of Nursing and Midwifery - Kasempa District
10. National Vocational Rehabilitation Center – Ndola District
11. Zambia College of Agriculture - Mpika District

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐳𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐚: 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

A Zambian delegation recently travelled to Czechia as part of the ZAMAGRO project, bringing together farmers, businesses and key agricultural institutions to explore Czech agricultural technologies and build new connections with machinery manufacturers.

The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Zambia, Food Reserve Agency, Golden Valley Agricultural Research Trust -GART, Zambia College of Agriculture- Monze, Growmore Technologies, Saro Agro Industrial Ltd as well as Caritas Czech Republic in Zambia.

During the week-long visit, the delegation visited Mendel University’s farm in Žabčice, as well as agricultural machinery.

The visit provided an opportunity to see different technologies in practice, exchange knowledge and discuss 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐂𝐳𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫.

Through ZAMAGRO, Caritas Czech Republic is working to support more productive and competitive agriculture in Zambia by connecting local farmers and institutions with appropriate technologies, expertise and partnerships, while strengthening the skills and capacities needed to use and maintain these technologies over the long term.

For children living in refugee settlements, accessing education can come with challenges. 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬, 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐞𝐬, 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞, yet these essentials can make a real difference in a child’s ability to attend school, participate confidently and focus on learning.

With support from the UNHCR Zambia - ZAMCO, Caritas Czech Republic works with communities and relevant authorities to 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

These efforts go beyond providing school materials. They help children feel prepared, included and confident as they continue their education and work towards their dreams.

𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐮𝐤𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐮𝐤𝐰𝐚 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Across the community, fish farming is giving farmers another way to support their families and earn an income alongside other livelihood activities.

One group making progress is Kudira Saving Group, which has now started selling fish after their pond reached a suitable size for harvesting.

The group is already looking ahead and plans to add another pond for the next production cycle, allowing them to grow their fish farming activities further.

Through its work in Mayukwayukwa and Mantapala, Caritas Czech Republic continues to support communities to strengthen food security, diversify incomes and build more sustainable livelihoods

At Meheba Boarding Secondary School, this is taking shape through a simple cabbage garden that is helping supplement school meals while giving learners hands-on agricultural experience.

With support from UNHCR Zambia - ZAMCO, the initiative is helping turn food production into both a source of fresh food and a learning opportunity.
