Strengthening Standards, Building Trust.

We were proud to participate in the Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) Stakeholder Engagement Training for importers and suppliers of solar products.

Under the theme “Enhancing Compliance and Safety of Solar Products through Standards and Conformity Assessment,” the session highlighted the critical role of quality assurance in protecting consumers, boosting confidence in renewable energy, and advancing Zambia’s sustainable energy goals.

Together, we move towards a safer, more reliable solar industry.

What Are “Credits” in Solar Net Metering?

Think of it like this:

When your solar system produces more electricity than you’re using, the extra power doesn’t go to waste, it goes back to the grid.

And guess what? You earn credits for it.

Later (like at night), when you need electricity, you use those credits instead of paying full price.

Example:

You send 20 units to the grid = you get 20 credits
Later, you use 25 units = you only pay for 5, Simple.

Credits = savings on your electricity bill.

Would you consider switching to solar? ☀️

Celebrating our members 👏🏾☀️

We’re excited to share that Isimwaa Situmbeko (Installer Member) and Buumba Gwanama (Eagle Vision Engineering) represented SIAZ in the FAO-supported Training of Trainers in Solar PV system sizing and installation.

Here’s what Isimwaa had to say about the experience:
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to SIAZ, KGRTC, and FAO for the training opportunity. The experience was insightful, helping me understand PV systems beyond the technical side, including project financing and training techniques for different learners.”

This is what building a strong solar industry looks like; skills, collaboration, and shared growth.

COMMON SOLAR INSTALLATION MISTAKES TO AVOID IN ZAMBIA

Switching to solar is a smart investment, but only if it’s done right.

Many households and businesses in Zambia face challenges with their solar systems due to avoidable mistakes during installation and planning.

Here are some of the most common solar mistakes:

❌ Choosing the cheapest installer instead of a qualified professional
❌ Installing the wrong system size for your energy needs
❌ Using low-quality or counterfeit equipment
❌ Poor installation practices and unsafe wiring
❌ Lack of maintenance and after-installation support

These mistakes can lead to reduced efficiency, frequent system failures, safety risks, and unnecessary costs.

✅ To get the best out of your solar investment, always work with trusted and verified providers.

The Solar Industry Association of Zambia continues to promote quality, standards, and professionalism within the solar sector to ensure reliable and safe energy solutions.
