TCCCAD is pleased to announce the successful completion of an _Integrated Advanced Defensive Driving and Road Safety Training Programme_ for Drivers and Equipment Operators at Konkola Copper Mines (KCM).

The programme was designed and delivered in alignment with international and national regulatory frameworks including:

2. Fleet Performance Optimization: Strategies for smarter fleet utilization, lifecycle cost reduction, and improved operational efficiency.
3. Sustainable Operations: Driver behavior management to achieve measurable fuel efficiency and reduced carbon emissions.
4. Regulatory & Standards Compliance: Ensuring adherence to world-class road safety management and mine transport safety requirements.

TCCCAD is proud to be implementing the Advanced Defensive Driving, Road Safety and Traffic Management, Driver & Operator Safety Programme for Konkola Copper Mines Plc (KCM).

This strategic capacity-building initiative is designed to strengthen road transport safety, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across KCM's mining operations.

The intensive programme integrates international best practices in Road Traffic Safety Management Systems (RTS) with Zambia's statutory requirements and mining industry standards. It equips drivers and mobile equipment operators with advanced competencies in defensive driving, hazard perception, risk assessment, journey management, fleet safety, fuel-efficient driving techniques, vehicle inspection, incident prevention, and safe operation of mining equipment.

The programme is intended to support KCM in achieving:

โœ… Enhanced road transport safety through proactive hazard identification, defensive driving principles, and effective risk control measures.

โœ… Improved fleet reliability and operational efficiency by promoting preventative vehicle care, reducing equipment downtime, and minimizing maintenance-related losses.

โœ… Sustainable operational performance through environmentally responsible driving practices that contribute to reduced fuel consumption, lower emissions, and improved asset utilization.

โœ… Compliance with internationally recognized Road Traffic Safety Management Systems and applicable Zambian legal and mining regulatory requirements.

Speaking during the certificate presentation ceremony, KCM Group Manager โ€“ Health, Safety and Environment, Ms. Elizabeth Sakeni, commended the participants for their dedication and commitment throughout the programme. She encouraged them to apply the knowledge and practical skills acquired to strengthen KCM's Zero Harm culture and contribute to safer, more efficient, and sustainable mining operations.
