Happy Birthday to our Founder-Mercy Namukoko Banda.
She decided to reflect on the Hard Work and Hidden Talents. She shares her story behind this birthday photoshoot.
“This reminds me of the relentless effort it takes to earn a living. Success rarely comes easy. I’m taken back to the days right after college when I was job hunting(about 14 years ago)-, only to find that most positions required experience I didn’t yet have.
One day, I got a call from a beauty parlor where I had applied. They had an opening for a cleaner, and I accepted it. It wasn’t long before the owner noticed my talent for nail art and promoted me to a beautician. This experience taught me an invaluable lesson: every role, no matter how humble, contributes to the bigger picture.
Blue-collar workers, like construction workers or cleaners, often go unnoticed, yet they perform some of the most essential and physically demanding tasks. Can you imagine working in an unkempt office? The truth is, we can’t function without them. They add significant value to our workplaces.
Let’s make an effort to recognize and honor their contributions. Inclusion means appreciating the efforts of everyone, regardless of their job title. To everyone trying to make ends meet, your hard work will not go unnoticed.”
