Every tree today was once a seed. Dont look down on people when they are in their seed state. They may look unwanted and unkempt because of their relationship with dirt. One day you may have to look up to their fruit. Nobody knows tomorrow. Respect and be respected for respect is reciprocal. Humble yourself to all people irrespective of their background. As you get older you find out that true happiness is not in how much you make or how many degrees you have or how big your house is or how fancy your car is. Its finding peace and joy and a calmness in your life that will soon become the most thing to you. Your family are what matters to you, love is what matters to you. Things that are of quality not quantity. Ships don't sink because of water around them. SHIPS SINK BECAUSE OF THE WATER THAT GETS IN THEM. DON'T LET WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND YOU GET INSIDE YOU AND WEIGH YOU DOWN.

AGGRAVATED ROBBERY – NGWERERE POLICE STATION
February 24, 2025 – The Zambia Police Service is urging all car hiring companies and individuals renting out vehicles to exercise due diligence in scrutinizing persons hiring vehicles from them. Today, February 24,2025, at 10:34 hours, Ngwerere Police Station received a report of aggravated robbery from F/ChaziSimbuwa, aged 20, a student at the University of Zambia (UNZA), residing in KapiriMposhi. Claims of white genocide 'not real', South African court rules

(BBC) A South African court has dismissed claims of a white genocide in the country as "clearly imagined" and "not real", undermining claims made by US President Donald Trump and his adviser Elon Musk.

The ruling came as the court blocked a wealthy benefactor's donation to white supremacist group Boerelegioen.

Grantland Michael Bray wanted to bequeath $2.1m ( £1.7m) to the group to help it "further its messages of racial hatred and separation".

But the court ruled this request was invalid, vague and "contrary to public policy".

Trump has referred to the "large-scale killing of farmers" in South Africa, while Musk has condemned what he said were "racist ownership laws" and previously condemned the "genocide of white people".

Despite vowing to crack down on immigration, Trump has said that white South African farmers would be allowed to settle in the US as refugees because of the persecution he said they faced.

Musk was born and grew up in South Africa before moving to the US.

UKRAINE OFFICIAL SAYS MINERALS DEAL AGREED WITH US

Ukraine has agreed the terms of a major minerals deal with the US, a senior official in Kyiv has told the BBC.

"We have indeed agreed it with a number of good amendments and see it as a positive outcome," the official said, without providing any further details.

Media reports say Washington has dropped initial demands for a right to $500bn (£395bn) in potential revenue from utilising the natural resources but has not given firm security guarantees to war-torn Ukraine - a key Ukrainian demand.

US President Donald Trump said he was expecting his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington to sign the deal this week, after the two leaders exchanged strong words about each other.

Without confirming that an agreement had been reached, Trump said on Tuesday that in return for the deal Ukraine would get "the right to fight on".

"They're very brave," he told reporters, but "without the United States and its money and its military equipment, this war would have been over in a very short period of time".

Asked whether supplies of US equipment and ammunition to Ukraine would continue, he said: "Maybe until we have a deal with Russia... We need to have a deal, otherwise it's going to continue."

There would be a need for "some form of peacekeeping" in Ukraine following any peace deal, Trump added, but that would need to be "acceptable to everyone".

Just last week, Trump described Zelensky as a "dictator", and appeared to blame Ukraine - not Russia - for starting the war, after the Ukrainian leader rejected US demands for $500bn in mineral wealth and suggested that the American president was living in a "disinformation space" created by Russia.

Trump has been pushing for access to Ukraine's minerals in return for previous military and other aid to the country since Moscow launched a full-scale invasion three years ago.

Zelensky argued nowhere near that much American aid had been provided, adding: "I can't se

PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATELY RELEASE
20-02-2025

As UPND Southern Province Chairperson, I strongly condemn the actions of Actor Maunga, the aspiring candidate for Kalomo, who has been distributing campaign materials despite the presence of a sitting MP.

This behavior is not only disrespectful to the incumbent MP but also undermines the party's internal processes and procedures.

As a party, we value discipline and respect for authority, and such actions can create confusion and division among our members.

I urge Actor Maunga to refrain from such activities and instead focus on building his credentials and engaging with the community in a constructive manner. We must prioritize unity and cohesion within our party, especially as we work towards our shared goals.

Let us maintain a high level of integrity and respect for one another, even as we compete for positions within the party. Our collective strength and commitment to our values are what will propel us forward.

As we move forward in our pursuit of progress and development, it's essential that we maintain the integrity and discipline that have come to define our party.

We've noticed a disturbing trend where some of our members are accompanying aspiring candidates, which undermines our party's values and principles. This behavior not only creates confusion but also dilutes our focus on serving the people.

Our party structures are not a platform for individual ambitions, but rather a collective effort to drive positive change in our communities. As such, I urge all members to refrain from accompanying aspiring candidates and instead focus on strengthening our party's grassroots presence.

However, I'd like to extend an invitation to those aspiring candidates who genuinely want to contribute to our party's growth and development. Your efforts are welcome, and we encourage you to

Government Introduces Equal Pay
By Dickson Jere

The long awaited ‘equal pay’ policy in public service has been approved by the government and will address the distortions and disparities in salaries and conditions of service. This will entail that public officers serving in same positions within government should be paid same salaries unlike the case now.

For instance, the judiciary have own salaries and conditions of service different from those in other organs of the State and this policy is trying to harmonize the disparities.

The “2025 Public Sector Pay Policy” will harmonize salaries of Judges, Members of House of Chiefs, Councillors and other Constitution Officer Holders such as the Attorney General and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

“Cabinet has observed that salaries and conditions of service for State organs and State institutions have been characterized by deep-rooted inequities, anomalies and inconsistencies,” the statement released by government read.

It is always difficult to understand how, for example, a Director in one institution is paid higher than the other when they all draw their paycheck from same public coffers.

The government believes the implementation of this policy will lead to the retention of key staff and “motivate officers and staff with requisite qualifications, skills and experience as to improve service delivery.”

Issues of disparities in salaries in public service had been a thorny issue for a longtime. In 2010, President Rupiah Banda appointed “Salaries & Wages Review Commission” to provide a detailed study on the problem. The Prof Muyunda Mwanalushi Commission recommended for the restructuring of the wages and salaries in public sector so that it is standardized.

Simply, a director salary must be the same in public service regardless of the ministry, department, agency or organ of the State one is employed, if have same qualifications.

The new policy approved by Cabinet last week will provide for “equity, fair

SPEAKER ORDERS HEALTH MINISTER TO PROVIDE UPDATE ON ECL’S HEALTH

THE First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Malungo Chisangano, has ordered Health Minister Elijah Muchima to provide a detailed update on the health of former President Edgar Lungu through a Ministerial Statement.

The decision followed a point of order raised by Chasefu Independent Member of Parliament Misheck Nyambose.

Mr. Nyambose questioned whether it was appropriate for Minister Muchima not to update the nation on the health situation of the former President, who is an eminent figure.

Prior to the point of order, Patriotic Front faction chairman for Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Mwamba, while appearing on Diamond TV’s Breakfast Show, had provided an update on Mr. Lungu's health, assuring the public that he was well and undergoing a medical assessment in South Africa.

He added that the former president is expected to return home soon.
