Last week, Adaptive Leadership Zambia, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, conducted a week-long community outreach in Chainda from 4thβ8th May 2026 under the ongoing Campaign.
The outreach, which was held across various hotspots in Chainda, provided Adolescents and Young People (AYPs) with access to essential HIV Prevention Services such as HIV Testing Services, PrEP, PEP, condom distribution, Sexual Reproductive Health information and counselling services.
The team also distributed IEC Materials and took time to explain the content to young people and community members to ensure correct understanding of the health messages being shared.
In addition to the health services, young people were also equipped with digital communication skills aimed at amplifying positive health messages within their communities. Through practical sessions, participants were introduced to the effective use of platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and other digital spaces for peer-to-peer engagement and health communication.
At Adaptive Leadership Zambia, we strongly believe that young people must take an active role in spearheading health communication efforts as peer educators, influencers and change-makers within their communities.
Beyond health education, the outreach also exposed young people to photography, videography and recreational games as a way of encouraging constructive engagement and helping them avoid harmful vices.
With Chainda being a highly populated community with a large youthful population, initiatives such as these are critical in equipping young people with life skills to navigate life positively and contribute towards building a healthy nation.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the parents and community members who showed up in large numbers to mobilize the community through dances and drums: a true reflection of community collaboration for a greater cause.
Special appreciation also goes to our partner, Space to Share, for their support towards the successful implementation of this outreach.
