HAPPY WORLD OPTOMETRY WEEK TO ALL OPTOMETRISTS.

22nd to 28th March 2026 is a World Optometry Week under the auspices of the World Council of Optometry (WCO), and 23rd March of each year is the World Optometry Day (WOD).

Against this background, Health Care Foundation Zambia (HCFZ) wishes to join Optometrists in celebrating the unmatched contribution they are making to promotion of Optometry, eye health and vision care in Zambia, and World wide.

Optometrists are simply unsung heroes and heroines. Without them, life of many could be unbearable. Even programs like the Reading Glasses for Improved Livelihoods (RGIL) being implemented by HCFZ in partnership with VisionSpring, and support from the Ministry of Health, could not have been a reality in Zambia.

Therefore, we wish to say, thank you very much, and happy World Optometry Week to all Optometrists in Zambia and World over.

INVITATION ACCEPTED WITH GLADNESS.

Health Care Foundation Zambia (HCFZ) is excited to accept an invitation from Chibombo District Health Office (CDHO) to participate in a Community Health Outreach Program organised to take place in Chibombo district on 4th February 2026.

At this event whose full details will soon be shared on this same page, HCFZ will provide free eye screening and eye healthcare education services as well as make affordable pairs of reading glasses available and accessible to all people of Chibombo district of Central Province, Zambia under our Community Program dubbed, "Reading Glasses for Improved Livelihoods Program (RGIL)", in partnership with VisionSpring.

We've got some big news! 🗞️

In 2025, we helped more than ‼️2.5 million‼️ people see clearly through eyeglasses across 16 countries.

📈 That's a 17% increase from 2024. This milestone demonstrates the scalable infrastructure and passion that drive our mission, which brings community-based vision screenings and eyeglasses directly to where our customers work, learn, and live.

These eyeglasses didn't just improve sight, they extended livelihoods, unlocking more than $540 million in earning potential for low-income communities.

Our work wouldn't be possible without your support and our dedicated teams and partners around the world. Here's to bringing brighter futures into focus every single day.

BACK TO WORK.

The month of December and January each year are very busy months for families in Zambia. This is because of farming and family festival activities as well as preparations for reopening of schools.

For this reason, Health Care Foundation Zambia (HCFZ) scaled down its volunteers' driven community based activities during this period in order to give enough time to volunteer members to be with their families.

We are now back to our community based work with renewed energy.

Therefore, join us in positively changing lives of our people as we continue with our community based Reading Glasses for Improved Livelihoods (RGIL) Program in partnership with VisionSpring with support from the Ministry of Health.

Furthermore, we shall continue with our Community Health Outreach Program to fight against Non-Communicable Diseases (CHOP-NCDs) in addition to the upcoming One Health (OH) Project, among others.

Therefore, to our HCFZ volunteer members and supporters, we wish to say, welcome back to work.

2026 is a year of performing beyond expectations. Thank you.

Today we end the year 2025.

The year that will greatly be remembered by Health Care Foundation Zambia (HCFZ) staff, volunteers and partners as a year of great service to mother Zambia.

Many people benefited from our community service activities under the Reading Glasses for Improved Livelihoods Program (RGIL) implemented in partnership with VisionSpring, and the Integrated Community Health Outreach Program Against Non-Communicable Diseases (ICHOP-A-NCDs) implemented in partnership with Chainda Ministers Fellowship (CMF), Doctors Leadership Academy (DLA) with support from Ministry of Health and cooperating partners.

5th December 2025 was the International Volunteer Day (IVD).

IVD is the day when the volunteers serving communities through their respective organisations like the Health Care Foundation Zambia (HCFZ) are celebrated globally for their compassion, dedication and positive impact on the lives of the people they serve.

Therefore, against this background, Health Care Foundation Zambia (HCFZ) joins hands with other like-mind and volunteer driven organisations under the auspices of the World Patients Alliance to which we are a full member; to thank and congratulate all HCFZ volunteer members for the great works you are doing in Zambia. Through you, people's lives are being changed and their Livelihoods improved daily.

Once again, congratulations and keep it up with your good humanitarian works; motivated by our pledge that, "Every week is a week to serve." Thank you.

This December being the last month of the year 2025, our Health Care Foundation Zambia (HCFZ) volunteers are geared to touch lives of people that could not have been reached in the past eleven months.

The aim is not to leave anyone behind. Therefore, partner with us.

Even Parliamentarians and Ward Councillors are most welcome to partner with us (HCFZ) for the sake of positively changing lives of vulnerable people in their respective constituencies and wards.
