World Refrigeration Day is an annual international awareness campaign celebrated on June 26. It highlights the critical role that the refrigeration, air-conditioning, and heat-pump (HVACR) sector plays in modern society, including food preservation, medical/vaccine storage, environmental sustainability, and human comfort. The official global theme for the 2026 campaign is "Cool Intelligence". This year’s focus highlights how intelligent design, installation, operation, and maintenance of cooling and sustainable heating systems require the deep expertise, judgment, and problem-solving abilities of human engineers and technicians—even in an era increasingly dominated by artificial intelligence. Here is a quick overview of why refrigeration is vital:Food Supply: Protects food from farm to fork, reducing waste and ensuring global food security.Healthcare: Maintains the necessary cold chain required to safely transport and store vital medicines and vaccines.Comfort & Tech: Keeps residential spaces livable in extreme climates and ensures data centers and servers run efficiently.
