GOSPEL RESPONSE TO THE VULNERABLE (GRV) NGO
OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE KISASA INCIDENT – KALUMBILA DISTRICT
The Gospel Response to the Vulnerable (GRV) strongly condemns the barbaric and inhumane killing of a woman in Kisasa area of Kalumbila District, reportedly linked to harmful and unfounded beliefs.
As an organization grounded in Christian values, we believe every human being is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and therefore deserves dignity, protection, and justice. What has occurred is not only a violation of the laws of Zambia, but also a grave departure from the teachings of Christ, which call us to love, compassion, and respect for life.
We wish to commend the decisive leadership shown by HRH Senior Chief Museli Musokatanda and the local authorities in taking steps to restore order and accountability in Kisasa. We also stand in solidarity with the people of Kalumbila during this difficult time and pray for wisdom, peace, and healing across the community.
OUR POSITION AND CALL TO ACTION
GRV believes that while arrests and legal action are necessary, they are not sufficient on their own. There is an urgent need to address the root causes of such violent behavior, which include ignorance, misinformation, moral decline, and lack of civic education.
We therefore call upon:
• Churches – to intensify teaching on true Christian principles, emphasizing love, justice, and the sanctity of life.
• Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) – to partner in community sensitization and moral reformation programs.
• Government Institutions – to strengthen public education on the laws of Zambia and ensure accessibility to justice systems.
OUR INTERVENTION PLAN
GRV is launching a community sensitization and education program in North-Western Province, starting with Kalumbila District. This initiative will focus on:
• Teaching Christian moral principles
• Educating communities on the laws of Zambia
• Promoting peaceful conflict resolution
• Addressing harmful beliefs and misinformation
• Strengthening community accountability systems
This program is intended to expand to other provinces as resources allow.
CALL FOR SUPPORT
To successfully implement this initiative, GRV is seeking:
• Financial Support from well-wishers, partners, and institutions
• Volunteers (especially church leaders, educators, and community workers)
• Strategic Partnerships with churches, NGOs, and government bodies
•
We are committed to addressing not just the symptoms, but the root causes of such tragic incidents. Through education, faith, and community engagement, we will ensure that people are properly sensitized and that peace is restored—not only in Kisasa, but across the nation.
GRV remains committed to being a voice for the vulnerable and a force for moral and spiritual transformation in Zambia. We believe that through collective effort, truth, and faith, communities can be restored and such tragic events prevented in the future.
