DAY TWO OF THE MIWOZ STAKEHOLDERS' ENGAGEMENT MEETING: SCALE project.
Today marked the second and final day of the stakeholders' engagement meeting hosted by the Media Initiative for Women in Zambia (MIWOZ). Participants were privileged to engage with and learn from renowned gender and human rights activist, and NGOCC Board Chairperson, Ms Beatrice Katebe, who shared valuable insights on civic participation, governance, and the importance of safeguarding democratic processes.
Following the interactive session, Ms Katebe joined a photo session with MIWOZ Board Chairperson Ms Patty Mwase, MIWOZ Board Member Ms Mary Banda, MIWOZ Executive Director Ms Hellen Mwale, NGOCC Communications Lead Mr Samuel Mwanakatwe, JCTR Deputy Executive Director Fr Boyd Nyirenda, and representatives from various civil society organisations and human rights groups, including SACCORD, ADEG, PANOS, MISA Zambia, and others.
The two-day engagement focused on enhancing stakeholders' understanding of three critical pieces of legislation ahead of the 13 August 2026 General Election:
✅ Constitutional Amendment Act No. 13 of 2025
✅ Electoral Process Amendment Act No. 12 of 2026
✅ Public Gatherings Bill
As Zambia prepares for the 2026 General Election, informed citizens and stakeholders remain key to strengthening democracy, promoting accountability, and encouraging meaningful civic participation.
