My name is Cornelius Bwalya, a fourth-year (final-year) student at Rockview University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Banking and Finance. I would like to sincerely express my gratitude for the sponsorship that has enabled me to reach this stage of my academic journey. I acknowledge that without the support of GHZ sponsors and coordinators, my pursuit of a career in banking would not have been possible. I consider the year 2026 to be my year, as I recognize God’s guidance and blessings throughout my studies, even in the midst of challenges and the memorable moments I have shared with fellow GHZ members. Currently, I am completing my final attachment, which I began in January at a microfinance institution here in Zambia. I am returning to school in May for pre-examination preparations. In August I will resume fieldwork in order to finalize my research and defense writing which must be submitted before I sit for my final examinations in December.

During the youth meeting before the holiday break, the youth watched a Malawian true-life story titled "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind." The movie tells the true story of a young Malawian boy William Kamkwamba who builds a windmill to save his village from famine during a severe drought. Despite facing poverty and lack of access to formal education, his creativity, determination, and self-learning help him find a solution that changes his community’s life. The youth enjoyed the movie because many of them could relate to the challenges the boy faced, such as hardship, limited resources, and the determination to overcome difficult circumstances.

The GHZ youth group had a wonderful time celebrating their Youth Day. The day was filled with fun games and exciting sports that everyone truly enjoyed. Munlo Trust Academy generously allowed them to use their school grounds for their sports and games activities. The youth took part with energy and worked together in their teams, making the competitions exciting. After the games, everyone sat down to enjoy a tasty meal of nshima, chicken and veggies. We are so grateful for your support towards the GHZ youth group.

The Joseph Project business model has been initiated to sustain the project and help generate income. The income generated will be used to support project maintenance, purchase additional materials, expand production capacity, and train students and individuals who are interested in learning from the project. To begin, the project will focus on producing locally made items that will be displayed and sold along the main roadside. Our goal is to continuously increase production in order to generate sufficient income for the project to sustain itself and maintain the capacity of growth by introducing more skilled labour for welding and metal fabrication.

We hosted our annual teachers’ training workshop at Mango Grove Community School, together with our three partner schools, and invited five additional community schools from surrounding rural areas to participate. The training proved to be highly impactful, as a representative from the Ministry of Education facilitated the session and provided a detailed explanation of how the new curriculum works, as well as practical guidance on how teachers in community schools can effectively implement it. The session was interactive, with teachers asking many questions about the curriculum. Curriculum frameworks from the Ministry were also distributed to the schools. In addition, we held a session on leadership and professional development facilitated by Mr. Ndauza Mtonga, an experienced teacher and headteacher with a background in government, private, and community schools. Drawing from his wealth of experience, he shared practical strategies for professional growth and effective leadership in schools. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to facilitate this workshop. By investing in teachers, we are ultimately investing in the quality of education that pupils receive. Thank you so much for your consistent support. It continues to make a meaningful difference.

My name is Blessings Phiri, and I am a first-year student at Eden University pursuing a degree in Information Communication Technology (ICT). This journey has been exciting and rewarding, especially with the courses I am taking this semester, which include Foundation Mathematics (CBS), Computer Programming, Communication Skills, and Introduction to Computing. I would like to sincerely appreciate GHZ for the sponsorship. Because of this support, I am learning so much and steadily progressing toward achieving my goals. This opportunity has truly elevated me to another level of success, and I am determined to make the most of it. Your generosity and commitment in covering my tuition and examination fees for my duration of study has made a significant difference in my life. I am deeply grateful, and all I can say is thank you for believing in me and investing in my future.

From our colleagues in South Africa: Today we prepared spicy rice and beef stew, serving 25 women, 19 men, and 35 children. As we celebrated the risen Christ, we shared Easter treats with the children, while the adults were also served noodles. Bread was distributed as well, kindly donated by Look Forward Creativity Centre.
