WHY DID YOU STOP TALKING TO GOD?
Before we can truly understand why life feels empty without prayer, we must first realize how deeply we depend on God. Many of us who say, (Iโm done with God,) speak out of pain, but also out of unawareness not knowing that even our very breath is proof of His mercy. (For in him we live and move and have our being) Acts 17:28niv
Without God, nothing exists, without His sustaining power, the world would collapse in an instant. Every heartbeat, every sunrise, every moment of peace is a gift that flows from His grace. Yet pride blinds many of us into thinking we can live without Him until life breaks us enough to see that we cannot even stand without His strength. Jesus said, (Apart from me you can do nothing) John 15:5niv To stop talking to God is to cut yourself off from the very source of life, wisdom, and peace. It is like a branch deciding it no longer needs the tree, forgetting that the sap that keeps it alive flows only from the root. The truth is, we need God not just when we are in trouble, but every moment to think, to breathe, to love, to forgive, to survive. Pride says, (God hasnโt done what I asked.) But humility says, (Even if He doesnโt, He has already done more than I deserve.) Before we complain about what we lack, we must pause to thank Him for what we still have breath, grace, salvation, and another chance to live. When Job lost everything, he still declared, (The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised)
Job 1:21niv That is the posture of a heart that knows its dependence on God. Gratitude silences entitlement, and humility opens the heart to revelation. The moment we recognize how much we need God, we begin to see that His presence is more valuable than any answer we seek. We do not talk to God because life is perfect we talk to Him because without Him, life has no meaning. And the more we realize that truth, the more impossible it becomes to stop talking to Him again.
