AIMZambia Project Launch on 09/10/2025
Strengthening Climate Resilience for the Most Vulnerable
Keepers Zambia Foundation in partnership with People in Need Zambia (PIN) joined partners for the official launch of the AIM Zambia Project “Integrated Action for Mitigating the Effects of Climate Change on the Most Vulnerable Communities in Zambia on 09/10/2025”. The launch was led by CELIM and funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) through AICS, the €1.26 million project brings together PIN, L’Africa Chiama Odv (LA), Africa Call Organisation (ACO), CBM Italiana and International, ADRA, and Keepers Zambia Foundation (KZF). The project targets communities in Western, Southern, Central, and Lusaka Provinces, focusing on climate-smart agriculture, nutrition and WASH, and protection, with a strong emphasis on inclusion of women, children, and persons with disabilities.
Speaking at the launch, H.E. Enrico De Agostini, Italian Ambassador to Zambia, highlighted that “the emergency is never over when we talk about climate change,” calling for sustained investment in sustainable, climate-smart solutions. Mr. Norman Chipakupaku, DMMU National Coordinator, confirmed government collaboration, indicating that “mitigation efforts must take centre stage and be the cornerstone in effectively dealing with disasters.”
Through collaborative action, AIM Zambia will strengthen resilience among smallholder farmers, health workers, schools, and vulnerable communities, contributing to greater food security and sustainable livelihoods. #

Keepers Zambia Foundation welcomes the extension of School feeding program to all 116 districts, however, this should cover all rural schools in 116 districts. We can not afford to depend on donor funding for such important program. We salute New Dawn Government on this one. We were in the process of advocating for % percentage allocation from CDF towards SFP. We felt that a K100, 000 per School per year under CDF could have made a difference, some Constituencies have not more than 80 Schools and K100,000 would have meant K8,000,000 leaving enough for Community projects. But this move underscores the commitment.

Building Resilient Communities, Empowering Local Leaders

Communities in Zambia continue to be affected by both natural and human-made disasters, which disrupt lives and access to vital services. In response, we joined a capacity-strengthening training that brought together partner organizations, government officials, and community leaders.

The sessions highlighted the importance of:
1. Boosting disaster preparedness and humanitarian response skills.
2. Encouraging inclusive participation and collaboration among stakeholders.
3. Improving planning and coordination at both community and district levels.
4. Pushing for increased investment in locally driven humanitarian action.

The training also reviewed the Local Humanitarian Leadership Policy, helping identify gaps and shaping advocacy efforts for a more inclusive and effective response.

This initiative is supported through the collaboration of Oxfam, Irish Aid, and Global Affairs Canada, all working towards stronger, more resilient communities in Zambia.
