Nothing beats uniting for climate and WASH.

MS Mwenya (Path To Growth Outreach Services ) , spaces to share and our team joined the mighty Woodlands A climate and environment club to commemorate the just ended environment day under Ministry of Green Economy and Environment - Zambia .

Ms Mwenya donated some waste management bins and watering jars for the lovely orchard at the school.

Yesterday, YWAC leadership was at the UNICEF office for a strategy alignment ahead of Day of the African Child 2026.

This year, youth move from consultation to co-design. We’re positioning young people as architects of WASH solutions in Zambia.

Ensuring every child has access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, and a voice in shaping the future.

More to share soon.

And it's a wrap 💧👌
We are proud to have participated in the 14th Zambia Water Forum and Exhibition .

We backed the WaterAid Zambia campaign, used the platform to share knowledge and strengthen partnerships, and presented a paper titled: “Advancing Inclusive and Sustainable WASH Systems Through Youth-Led Policy Dialogue: Insights from Inter-University Debates in Zambia.”

We also showcased our upcoming Youth WASH Innovation Night — a space to spotlight youth-led solutions for inclusive, sustainable WASH systems.

Thank you WaterAid Zambia for the partnership and platform, and to the ZAWAFE Secretariat for convening this vital space for dialogue, learning, and systems strengthening.

We remain committed to engaging young voices and advancing evidence-based solutions for WASH in Zambia.

🌍 YWAC Week 2: From Identifying Problems to Designing Solutions

Our Youth WASH Ambassadors are proving that change begins with understanding our communities.

This week, Amanda Nalute from Kalingalinga (Ward 36, Lusaka) completed her Community Assessment & Innovation Assignment by investigating local WASH challenges and developing a practical youth-led solution.

Through community observations and conversations with residents, Amanda identified two key issues:
🗑️ Poor solid waste management leading to garbage accumulation in residential areas.
💧 Stagnant wastewater creating unhealthy conditions and potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

After engaging community members and reviewing available evidence, she proposed **"Kalingalinga Eco-Drain & Clean" — a social enterprise idea that combines affordable household waste collection with simple drainage improvements to reduce environmental and public health risks.

What makes this assignment exciting is that it moves beyond identifying problems and challenges young people to design sustainable, community-driven solutions.

Week 2 assignments are coming in, and we are encouraged by the creativity, innovation, and commitment being demonstrated by our young ambassadors. The future of WASH leadership is bright when young people are empowered to observe, think critically, and act.

We’re pleased to announce that the Youth WASH Ambassador Club presented at the 14th Zambia Water Forum and Exhibition .

Our Learning and System Strengthening Lead, Wakisa Ndovie, MD, delivered a paper titled:
“Advancing Inclusive and Sustainable WASH Systems Through Youth-Led Policy Dialogue: Insights from Inter-University Debates in Zambia.”

The session served as a learning platform where we shared knowledge, exchanged ideas, and strengthened systems thinking on inclusive WASH.

We remain committed to engaging young voices on platforms like ZAWAFE to ensure policies are evidence-based and community-driven.
