WORLD CLEANUP DAY IS COMING TO YOUR COMMUNITY!

On 20 September, the world comes together to take action for cleaner, healthier communities. At YWAC, we are taking the momentum forward through our World Cleanup Day commemorations on Friday, 26 September, incorporating Zambia’s Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign.

Clean communities. Healthy environments. Collective action.

Let’s step up, clean up and keep Zambia clean, green and healthy.

HERE’S WHY WE ARE GOING FOR
Access to soap is a small but essential part of creating healthier, safer learning environments.

In Zambia, only 4% of schools meet basic Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) standards. Ensuring that learners have access to soap and functional handwashing facilities can help prevent disease, promote healthy hygiene behaviours and support better learning environments.

Through , we are turning a simple bar of soap into a practical action for healthier schools and communities.
Clean hands. Healthy futures.

Sustainable WASH systems require more than aid — they require innovation, investment and action.

As Gift Mwila reminds us, youth-led enterprises, technology, crowdfunding and strategic partnerships can help build WASH systems that are sustainable and responsive to community needs.

Through , we are turning ideas into action by mobilising soap to promote hand hygiene and healthier communities. 🧼

Support the drive. Donate soap. Be part of the change.

Today, the Youth WASH Ambassadors Club (YWAC) Executive convened for a strategic leadership meeting to review key organisational priorities, ongoing institutional processes and emerging opportunities.

The meeting provided space for reflection, coordination and alignment on the Club’s priorities and next steps as we continue strengthening our systems, partnerships and youth-led approach to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).

Strategic conversations. Institutional strengthening. Collective action.

Globally, more than 720,000 people die by su***de every year, with su***de among the leading causes of death for young people aged 15–29.

In Zambia, young people in WASH face pressures too—from unemployment and financial uncertainty to academic pressure, burnout and climate-related challenges.

At Youth WASH Ambassadors Club Zambia (YWAC), we believe WASH is about more than water, sanitation and hygiene. It is about people.

That’s why we are working to integrate mental health and psychosocial wellbeing into our youth WASH conversations, advocacy and engagement spaces.

Let’s create spaces where young people feel seen, heard, valued, safe and supported.

Check on your people. Speak up. Listen. Support.

Young people are not waiting for solutions. They are creating them. 🌍💧

As Kachusha Nkosha reminds us, meaningful youth participation means creating platforms, strengthening capacity and connecting young people to the systems where decisions are made.
Through , we are putting that spirit of action into practice.

A simple bar of soap can support hand hygiene, protect health and uphold dignity. But making this possible takes collective action.

Join us. Donate soap. Mobilise your community. Support .
Because change does not begin with waiting. It begins with action.

YWAC at JETS 2026 🌍

We are proud to have members of the Youth WASH Ambassadors Club (YWAC) serving as Adjudicators at the 2026 Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientists (JETS).

Under the theme “Afrocentric Competence-Based STE(A)M Education Transformation for selected African Countries,” the programme provides a platform for young people to showcase innovation and problem-solving.

For the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector, such platforms are important in advancing practical innovations and technologies that can address challenges in water access, sanitation services, hygiene and climate resilience.

We are proud to see our members contributing to this important platform.
