ZCCP-Kwatu Knowledge for Life Affecting positive behaviour change, social mobilisation & quality service provision for Zambians

ZCCP is a local NGO in Zambia established in the year 2002 with a vision of ‘having a well informed and empowered Zambian society where individuals and communities make positive and proactive decisions about their health, development and general social wellbeing’ through improved access to information and education. The organization is a champion in health and development communications and works

with communities to bring about social behavior change. The organisation uses the power of the mass media (radio, TV, print, social media and social mobilisation) to reach the populations and effect social and behavioral change. The organization uses a rigorous formative research process to generate appropriate edutainment content relevant to social, health and development priorities in Zambia. ZCCP has developed Kwatu as a well-known health and development communication brand, which has been used to carry all of ZCCP’s products.

His Royal Highness Chief Mumena of the Kaonde People shares exciting news!

"We have established an Anti - GBV Chiefdom Secretariet in Mumena Chiefdom, thanks to volunteers who are doing tremendous work on our behalf."

Chief Mumena emphasises that GBV awareness is growing, and people are becoming aware that GBV is an offence.

HRH Chief Mumena has also encouraged GBV survivors to access Post GBV Care Services at the One Stop Centres.

Prisca Ngulube, Ng'ombe Urban Clinic One Stop Centre Coordinator in Lusaka, shares her experience after undergoing the Multi-Disciplinary Management of GBV Training and LIVES Training. She says the trainings have equipped her with essential skills to provide holistic support to GBV survivors, including empathetic survivor care, active listening, and effective response techniques.

The USAID Stop GBV Now project in Luapula Province has teamed up with the Zambia Police Victim Support Unit (VSU) to launch the Basadi Operation, a women-led initiative aimed at combating gender-based violence (GBV). The term "Basadi" originates from Botswana and Sesotho, meaning "women," and is used by female police officers in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region to promote GBV sensitization and resolve pending cases.
This collaborative effort involves various stakeholders, including the Zambia Centre for Communication Programmes (ZCCP-Kwatu), to ensure a comprehensive approach to addressing GBV.

"Taking a Stand Against GBV!"

The Gender Machinery delegation, led by Permanent Secretary Mainga Kabika, recently visited Statehouse to shed light on critical GBV issues affecting various sectors nationwide. Our very own ZCCP Executive Director, Johans Mtonga, was part of this influential delegation and presented on Social Inclusion in relation to GBV, also representing the Men's Movement.
