Talitha Kum Zambia (TAKUZA) is a faith-based Network Organization that aims to end Human Trafficking It’s a call to awaken hope, healing, and transformation.

We are a faith-based national network committed to ending human trafficking in Zambia. As part of the global Talitha Kum International network, TAKUZA empowers survivors, engages in education and advocacy, and addresses the root causes of exploitation. Rooted in Catholic social teaching, we work to restore dignity and freedom to every person. Through collaboration, prayer, and unwavering commitment, we create safe spaces, raise awareness, and support those affected by trafficking. Our name, Talitha Kum, “Young girl, I say to you, arise”, is more than a phrase. Whether you’re a community member, a partner organisation, or an advocate for justice, there’s a place for you in our movement. Vision: A society where every person is free from exploitation. Mission: To fight human trafficking by addressing root causes and promoting access to protection services.

During the month of July and leading up to the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2026, the Talitha K*m networks took action to raise awareness and engage all types of individuals, from the most vulnerable to the decision-makers.

We rallied and spread information in public spaces, schools, parishes, government offices, on social media, on TV and the radio. We held training sessions, webinars, panels and focus group discussions with the youth, with migrants, with people in situations of homelessness and prostitution.

Through collective global action, we are building a united front to prevent trafficking and empower those most at risk 🖐🏽

🚨 That “IT job” may not be what you think!

Imagine applying for an online job expecting to work in IT, only to discover that you are being forced to scam other people online. What looked like an opportunity could actually be a form of human trafficking and exploitation.

Not everyone behind an online scam is there by choice. Some people are deceived, trafficked and forced into these operations.

Stay alert: Before accepting an online job, verify the employer, understand what the work involves and pay attention to red flags.

A job should never cost you your freedom.

11 Dioceses. One Mission.

Sisters, Priests and collaborators as Diocesan Team Leaders from all 11 dioceses of Zambia have come together for a time of reflection, learning and sharing.

We are bringing into one room the experiences from our communities, the forms of human trafficking we encounter, the realities faced by those at risk and the ways our teams are responding.

The reflection is enriched by insights from key stakeholders, including the Drug Enforcement Commission, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Zambia Police Service and Commissioner for Refugees, helping us deepen our understanding and strengthen collaboration.

This is more than a meeting. It is a space to listen, learn, reflect and renew our commitment to protecting human dignity, preventing trafficking, supporting survivors and promoting safe migration.

Together, we can end human trafficking.

The team kicked off its community engagement through a market outreach at the new market in Chinsali, connecting with community members and raising awareness on human trafficking and safe migration.

As part of our ongoing efforts to raise awareness on human trafficking and promote safe migration, our Ndola Team branch held an engaging radio programme, while our Mpika Team took the conversation directly to the community.

Through these activities, we continue to raise awareness, share information and encourage communities to play their part in preventing human trafficking.

Awareness starts with a conversation and we encourage you to have conversations with family and friends —every conversation can make a difference.

Trapped Behind the Scam - World Day Against Trafficking in Person

Today, we proudly joined the national commemoration of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, marching from East Park Mall to KK Mall in solidarity with survivors and in support of the fight against human trafficking.

Every step we take is a step towards raising awareness, protecting the vulnerable and promoting the dignity of every person.
