๐๐ง Zambia reaffirms commitment to sustainable land and water management
The ๐ฟ๐ฒGovernment has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Zambiaโs natural resources, with a strong call for better coordination and policy alignment to tackle growing environmental challenges.
Speaking at a stakeholder validation workshop in Lusaka yesterday, on behalf of Secretary to the Cabinet Mr. Patrick Kangwa, the Permanent Secretary, Management Development Division - Cabinet Office, Mr. Alfred Sakwiya emphasised that safeguarding forests, catchments, wetlands, and rivers is critical for both present and future generations.
The process, supported by the ๐ช๐บEuropean Union, ๐ฉ๐ชGermany and ๐ธ๐ชSweden funded AWARE 2.0 project, focused on refining and validating key issues and actionable recommendations aimed at strengthening environmental governance and improve institutional efficiency.

๐๐ฝEnsure alignment with Zambiaโs national priorities on food, water, and energy security while strengthening resilience of communities against climate shocks
๐๐ฝReduced duplication of effort across institutions
๐๐ฝMore effective and coordinated environmental governance
Meanwhile, the Programme Manager at the Swedish Embassy, Antonia Grรถnvall-Kumwenda, highlighted the urgency of addressing climate change, deforestation, and unsustainable land use.
