HON. NJOBVU UNVEILS CHAMA NORTH DEVELOPMENT AGENDA: “THE CAMPAIGN IS OVER, NOW LET’S DELIVER”

CHAMA NORTH MP BENSON NJOBVU has outlined his development priorities for the constituency, placing unity, cooperation and working with traditional leaders and all elected representatives at the centre of his agenda.
Speaking after being sworn in as Member of Parliament on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Hon. Njobvu said the election period was now behind them and that leaders must shift their focus from politics to service delivery, unity and development.
WORKING WITH TRADITIONAL LEADERS AND UNITING CHAMA NORTH
Hon. Njobvu has pledged to make cooperation with traditional leaders one of his top priorities, saying development in Chama North requires the involvement and support of traditional authorities who understand the needs and challenges of their communities.
He pledged to work closely with all Chiefs in Chama North, regardless of any political considerations, and to maintain open communication with traditional leadership on matters affecting their people.
The MP specifically named Senior Chief Kambombo, Chief Chibale, Chief Lundu, Chief Mulilo and Chief Chikwa as traditional leaders with whom he intends to work closely in advancing development across the constituency.
Hon. Njobvu said traditional leaders remain an important link between communities and Government and that their knowledge of local challenges would be critical in identifying development priorities and ensuring that projects reach the people who need them most.
He further pledged to respect and strengthen cooperation with traditional institutions while working together on issues such as roads, education, water, human-wildlife conflict, communication networks, community empowerment and other development programmes.
Hon. Njobvu also said he would work with all eight councillors regardless of political affiliation, emphasising that the people of Chama North voted for leadership and development, not continued political divisions.
He said his administration would therefore seek to bring together traditional leaders, councillors, Government institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders under one common objective — the development of Chama North.
EDUCATION: MORE SCHOOLS, BETTER FACILITIES
Hon. Njobvu says education infrastructure will be one of his major priorities.
He plans to advocate for the return of basic schools that were removed by Government, expand existing school infrastructure and push for more desks so that pupils can learn in decent conditions.
He also identified the opening of Chibale Boarding School and completion of Chili Boarding School in Mbazi Ward as key priorities.
According to the MP, improved access to education could also help address social challenges affecting some communities, including early pregnancies.
ROADS & BRIDGES: OPENING UP CHAMA NORTH
Hon. Njobvu has identified several major roads requiring attention, including:
1.Chama–Matumbo Road
2.Chama–Mafinga Road
3.Isoka–Chibale Road
4.Kambombo–Chibale Road
He also says he will work with Chama Central and Chama South MPs to lobby for the completion of Luangwa Bridge.
The MP believes improved road connectivity will make it easier to move people and goods while attracting businesses and investment into Chama.
WATER: MORE BOREHOLES & SOLAR WATER SYSTEMS
Access to clean and safe water is another priority.
Hon. Njobvu says more boreholes will be drilled in areas facing water shortages, with solar-powered water systems considered to provide reliable water supplies to communities.
HUMAN-WILDLIFE CONFLICT
The MP has also pledged to engage Government over human-wildlife conflict, with a focus on protecting communities and finding practical solutions to challenges caused by interactions between people and wildlife.
NETWORK COVERAGE
Hon. Njobvu says inadequate mobile network coverage remains a challenge in some parts of Chama North.
He has pledged to push for the construction of additional communication towers, saying better connectivity will help residents communicate with their families and access their elected representatives more easily.
CDF, BURSARIES & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Hon. Njobvu says he will work closely with the CDF Committee to facilitate bursaries and community projects under the Constituency Development Fund.
He has also pledged to cooperate with Chama Town Council, led by Council Chairperson Hon. Genius Ngulube, in advancing development across the district.
WORKING TOGETHER FOR CHAMA
Hon. Njobvu has acknowledged development initiatives undertaken by his predecessor, Hon. Yotam Mtayachalo, now MP for Chama Central.
He says he will work with Hon. Mtayachalo and Chama South MP Hon. Jerrix Nkhata on development matters affecting the wider Chama District.
His message is clear:
The elections are over. Political differences should not stand in the way of development.
Hon. Njobvu says he will work with traditional leaders, all eight councillors, Government institutions, community stakeholders and other partners to deliver development to the people of Chama North.
