Lusaka, February, 2026 - WITH many places flooded in Lusaka and other parts of Zambia, the first person to be affected usually the child.

Children's safe places and grounds for play no longer exist. Children are confined in small spaces inside the house.

The floods present a risk for children on their way to school, especially those that walk long distances to school.

Some children end up drowning or being attached by wild animals such as crocodiles.

Happy Child Foundation therefore appeals to parents and authorities to ensure that children are provided with indoor safe places to play and interact.

Those at risk of drowning must be provided with swimming skills and lessons so they are able to navigate safely around flooded places.

Zambia’s Cannabis Industry Hangs in the balance – As Billions of dollars in investment in cannabis industry is lost as investors look elsewhere alternatives growers.

LUSAKA, April, 2025 –THE future of Zambia’s cannabis industry hangs in the balance as Government drags its feet in actualizing the legal growing and export of the crop for both medical and industrial use.

Despite the country legalising the growing of medicinal cannabis in 2021, four years later, there has been little to zero movement in ensuring that policies and licensees are given to farmers and agribusinesses intending to grow this cash crop.

As a result, donor and investor fatigue has set in resulting in many Zambian companies losing face and reputation before international funders and investors.

Dear Young Zambian Parents,

Naming a child is very important. Dont take likely that exercise.

If you decide to give your child a foreign tribal name, make sure you counter check its meanings and what kind of people are named after that name.

Most misused names are those found in the bible story. Names such as Judas, Jezebel, Jesus, Yeshuah, Pharaoh, Delilah etc are feared.

To be on the safe side, give your child a local name, a Zambian name from your tribe.

Naming your child Mfwiti, Koswe etc just to please the Easternes might backfire in future.
