Appreciation Post
Louis Machima
Louis Machima is a 17-year-old young female that joined Women In Governance Zambia while still in secondary school. Louis started her advocacy journey in the eleventh-grade in 2022 through Media Network on Children's Rights and Development and since then her passion in advocacy has grown greatly. During her voluntary work at the institution, she worked closely with the media team which taught me what children's rights are how to defend myself as a child, with the help of media network she had an opportunity to engage with various government stake holders where young people presented to them issues that are affecting children in our various communities. Further in 2022 she had an opportunity to attend Worlds Children Day which commemorated in Zambia and had an opportunity to write letters of publication to the president on issues affecting young people and the solutions.
Being a part of Women In Governance Zambia, networking with other organizations helped her shape my drive in community awareness on women’s rights, such as being an associate member of Sisters Keeper and enrolled into a Girls In Stem Program which she was certified in the year 2024. Currently Louis has been engaged with UNICEF in different change maker workshops that aim towards sustainable development and is also a part of as the first cohort of youth reporters by UNICEF.
Keep soring high Young Leader...
