Through the AIMZambia Project, our partner People in Need Zambia reached thousands of families in Kalomo and Namwala with an intensive Active Case Finding campaign.

Across 38 health facilities, 200 trained Community Health Volunteers, health staff, and PIN Nutrition Officers went door to door during Child Health Week to screen children under 5, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. By bringing services directly to households, malnutrition is being detected sooner, and vulnerable children are being fast-tracked to life-saving IMAM treatment.

Funded by MAECI through AICS, AIM Zambia is helping communities withstand the impacts of drought and ensuring no child is overlooked.

In the past few days, AIMZambia partners took part in a training on the importance of inclusion in emergency contexts.

Thanks to CBM’s and ZAPID’s facilitation, participants not only strengthened their skills in planning and monitoring inclusive humanitarian interventions, but also learned how to apply the Washington Group Questions in both emergency and non-emergency settings.

This approach helps us collect and analyse data on persons with disabilities, ensuring that our actions are increasingly impactful and responsive to their needs.

Together, we continue working to make humanitarian response more inclusive for all.

This initiative has been funded by MAECI through the Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo - Sede di Maputo.

👩‍⚕️🏥Under the AIM Zambia Project, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), our partner People in Need Zambia recently conducted a Training of Health Staff in Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) in Kalomo and Namwala districts of Southern Province.

These actions are part of an emergency response programme addressing the recent drought that has affected the country, particularly targeting the most vulnerable districts in the areas of health, agriculture and nutrition, and protection of the most at-risk groups.

🌾🌱CELIM Zambia, under the Green Inclusion Project, recently conducted a Training of Trainers on Sustainable Organic Agriculture at Homes in Mongu. The three-day training brought together 50 women, mothers of children with disabilities, and women with disabilities, creating a truly inclusive learning environment where everyone could actively participate and share experiences. Through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, participants gained valuable knowledge and hands-on skills in sustainable farming practices. The goal is simple but powerful - to empower these women to become community trainers and change agents, spreading sustainable and inclusive agricultural knowledge in their own communities.

We are proud to share that we successfully delivered three-day Inclusive Humanitarian Action & Disability Inclusion Training in Mongu, under the Green-Inclusion Project! 🌍✨

With the active participation of key government ministries — Agriculture, Fisheries, Community Development, and Social Services — alongside OPDs and CSOs, the training brought together 20+ representatives committed to driving change in their communities and facilitated by specialized consultants in partnership with CBM.

🔹 What we covered:
✔️ Principles of Inclusive Humanitarian Action
✔️ Disability-inclusive approaches in emergencies
✔️ Strengthening community-based support systems
✔️ Practical tools for mainstreaming disability inclusion

The training was a hub of knowledge-sharing and collaboration, laying a solid foundation for more inclusive humanitarian responses for persons with disabilities.

💪 Together, we are shaping a future where everyone counts and no one is left behind.

🌟 Today we celebrate 2 years of incredible work from our Logistic and Project Officer, Mr Shimon Kalaluka Yalenga whose passion, commitment, and enthusiasm have made a real difference in CELIM Zambia’s projects. 💚

In his own words: “working with CELIM on the Educare Project and Caring for the Youth Project has been truly heartwarming. From building classrooms to emergency interventions during the drought, every moment has shown the power of inclusive action. Seeing children with disabilities access education, shelter, and care — and helping them leave the streets or the segregation behind — is a feeling hard to put into words. What excites me most is seeing their smiles when they realize they have the same opportunities as their peers. Every child deserves to thrive, and being part of this journey has profoundly changed me.”

🙏 Thank you for these two years of tireless dedication and for inspiring us all with your passion! 💫

🌱 Building Inclusive and Sustainable Futures in Kaande, Sefula & Tapo - Western Province 🌱

Together with Caritas Mongu, camp officers, CWACs, CACs, and WDC representatives, CELIM reached 217 community members through training on Community-based Sustainable Agriculture Systems (CSAS), part of the CBM-funded Green Inclusion Project.

💡 What made this training special?
✔️ 30% of participants were persons with disabilities and representatives of their organizations – ensuring no one is left behind.
✔️ Farmers learned hands-on methods in soil fertility management, soil & water conservation, land preparation, vegetable production, and natural pest & disaster management.

✨ One participant from Sefula shared: “This knowledge is a blessing to us. I now understand how to manage my soil and water better, and I am eager to put this into practice so my family can have food even during hard times.”

The enthusiasm and determination of the communities show their readiness to transform farming practices into more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive systems. 🌍💚
