Mind Matters: Talking Brain Health & Alzheimer's in Zambia 🧠📻

When we think about health, how often do we actually focus on our brains? Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia affect many families across Zambia, yet the topic is often surrounded by silence, misunderstanding, or stigma.

This Wednesday on Her Health Talkshow, we are breaking down the barriers. Join your host, Chisomo Nyangu (Administration Officer at WGH Zambia), as she welcomes Lisa Kalungwana, an expert Research Scientist from Ciheb Zambia, for a vital discussion: “Mind Matters: Alzheimer’s Disease and Brain Health in the Zambian Context.”

Together, they will explore:
✅ What Alzheimer’s really is and how it impacts the brain.
âś… The early warning signs that families should look out for.
âś… How we can combat local stigmas and support caregivers who carry the emotional weight of dementia care.

Protecting our health means protecting our minds. Don't miss this eye-opening conversation!

: Unforgettable. ❤️
The energy at today’s Meet & Greet was magical. After months of connecting online, finally gathering in the same room and seeing everyone in their stunning attire was special.
Beyond the beautiful outfits and gowns for some, the true impact lay in the connection. We engaged in deep, honest conversations that can only happen in person, strengthening collaborations and reminding everyone to pause and build strength from the inside out.
A massive thank you to the incredible speakers who grounded the day: Anastasia Munyati ( ), Dr. Nachizya Edith Namukanga, and Talitha Bulaya ( ). The vibrant Qs&As and insights provided a clear, inspired roadmap for the collective journey ahead.
This is just the beginning. The momentum carries forward to the upcoming Symposium and Gala Dinner as we keep challenging power and privilege for Gender Equity. See you there! 🥂✨

PS: Look out for highlights of the Meet&Greet to be posted in the coming days...

in the Bauleni Community, the energy was undeniable. , alongside the , came together for a vital mission: ensuring that every girl in Zambia has the right to play, the courage to lead, and the support to prioritize her mental well-being.
For too many girls, sports can be a space of pressure or discrimination rather than one of joy. We are changing that narrative by building safe environments where confidence grows and mental health stigma is left on the sidelines.
WGH Zambia Administration Officer, Nyangu Chisomo said “When we invest in a girl's right to play, we are investing in her mental resilience and her future leadership. Creating safe, supportive environments in sports is a fundamental step toward a more equitable health system and a stronger generation for our nation.”
When a girl feels supported in sports, she learns that her voice matters and her health both physical and mental is a priority. By breaking down barriers today, we are building an empowered generation that will lead Zambia tomorrow.
Every girl deserves to dream without fear.
