The Dates of Abu Talha

Abu Talha al-Ansari (RA) was one of the richest men in Medina. His most beloved possession was a garden called Bayruha. It had sweet water and tall date palms, and the Prophet ﷺ would often visit it.

When Allah revealed the verse: “You will never achieve righteousness until you spend from that which you love” (Qur’an 3:92), Abu Talha went straight to the Prophet ﷺ.

He said: "O Messenger of Allah, Allah is asking us to give what we love. Bayruha is the most beloved of my wealth to me. I give it in charity for Allah’s sake."

The Prophet ﷺ smiled and said: "That is profitable wealth! I think you should give it to your relatives."

So Abu Talha divided it among his family. A garden he loved became a source of blessings for everyone around him.

Sadaqah is never a loss. What you give for Allah always comes back, just bigger.
