Every Day Sacrifice
Lately, I have greatly recognized that many of the decisions that I have been making have come on the expense of sacrifice. At many times I have wondered why life has felt this way for me; every good thing that I endeavor to do comes with a choice of putting something else aside. Whenever promptings come or an opportunity is presented, there is always something enticing or appealing that seems to be there that I need to let go off.
During Sacrament meeting this week, I had a flood of thoughts that helped me understand the power of making sacrifices in our daily. Sacrifice is part of our everyday life whether we realize it or not. We choose to become who we are today because of the sacrificial choices we have made in the past. We Sacrifice the pleasures of entertainment on Sundays to observe the sabbath day, we Sacrifice the seeming enticings of scrolling and pricking on phones for family time and scripture studies, we Sacrifice our pride and rage for humility, and most importantly we Sacrifice the pleasures of the moment for our futures and those of our families.
Even in simple and small ways, the sacrifices that I make brings me priceless blessings. One of the sacrifices that has been a portal for many blessing has been waking up a little bit early every single day only to study my precious scriptures. This has brought me immense amount of joy and a sense of peace and meaning to my life.
This is perhaps the great lesson for me this past week. This is how Christ lived his life, and by doing the same, I'm being led by Him and becoming more like Him.
