๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿค– The Next Gen of Engineers and Problem Solvers Just graduated ๐ŸŽ“ ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Over the past few weeks, we have had the privilege of training learners from Libala Secondary School in Robotics, Arduino Programming, and Embedded Systems through practical, hands-on learning experiences facilitated by our Colleagues from the EO Robotics Lab

Throughout the programme, the students explored electronic components such as sensors, motors, and microcontrollers, learned programming using C++, and applied their knowledge by designing and building their own projects. The training encouraged creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving while inspiring learners to use technology to solve real-world challenges.

This initiative was delivered under the Code4Change Project, a collaboration between Zambia YMCA and HeziTech STEM & ICT Hub, with the generous support of TME Education .

We are incredibly proud of every learner for their commitment, curiosity, and determination throughout the training. Congratulations to all the students on successfully completing the programme and receiving their certificates! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ‘

This is just the beginningโ€”we look forward to seeing these young innovators continue to create, build, and lead the future of technology in Zambia.

We build. We inspire. We innovate. ๐Ÿš€

May marks Mental Health Month - a time to reaffirm our collective responsibility to build healthier, more inclusive and more compassionate communities.
Guided by our YMCA Vision 2030 and commitment to Community Wellbeing, https://africaymca.org/vision-2030/, we remain committed to advancing spaces where the communities and especially youths can thrive mentally, emotionally and socially.

Throughout this month, we will highlight programmes and initiatives from YMCAs across Africa that are advancing mental health and community wellbeing through advocacy, safe spaces, psychosocial support, youth engagement and community outreach.

As we observe Mental Health Month, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing mental wellbeing by promoting spaces of care, support, inclusion and healing across the continent. Together, we continue building a movement where mental health and wellbeing are recognised as essential to stronger, healthier and more resilient communities for all.

Zambia YMCA has completed its Youth Agroecology project. ๐ŸŒฑ

Over the past year, 168 young people have learned sustainable farming skills and are teaching others in their communities. From organic pest management to making bio-charcoal, they're putting agroecology into practice in their own gardens and beyond.

Mary Zulu, 18, reflects on the change: "Before this project, I did not see farming as something for young people. Now I understand how we can use simple, natural methods to grow healthy crops and protect our environment." ๐ŸŒ

Youth Agroecology is part of Network Solutions Cycle 1 of the EU Youth Empowerment Fund, implemented through the Global Youth Mobilization.

Young people are getting equipped with relevant, market-driven skills through a blended learning approach that combines digital access with in-person support. This is getting done through the Ready for Work Training Programme in Zambia YMCA in patrnership with Absa Bank Zambia and the innovative tech hub, HeziTech STEM & ICT Hub.

The programme is already demonstrating strong reach and engagement, with over 150 young participants onboarded and more than 600 youth actively connected through the learning community. This growing participation reflects both the demand for practical skills and the programmeโ€™s relevance in todayโ€™s employment landscape.

Through this effort, young people are better positioned to build sustainable livelihoods, strengthen their employability and transition confidently into real-world opportunities thus empowering youth and shaping resilient communities across Africa.
