🎓 Celebrating the Successful Completion of Cohort 1

Congratulations to the first cohort of the Zambia - TeleDoctor Zambia Internship Programme, for successfully completing a transformative three-month journey.

Created to address unemployment among health professionals, the programme equips young professionals with practical experience in the health ecosystem while expanding access to healthcare across Zambia.

From telemedicine and clinical care, to health entrepreneurship, customer care, and health reporting, ethics and media, our interns gained critical skills for the future of healthcare.

A highlight of the graduation was the presentation of innovative projects developed throughout the internship. Showcasing the talent, creativity and commitment of Zambia's next generation of health professionals.

Empowering the Next Generation of Health Professionals

Amref Zambia, today marked another important milestone in strengthening Zambia's future health workforce through the official handover of medical and ICT equipment valued at over ZMW 3.3 million to 12 health training institutions across the country.

Delivered through the Africa Health Collaborative(AHC) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, this investment goes far beyond equipment. It is an investment in Zambia's young people; the future nurses, midwives, biomedical scientists, clinical officers and other health professionals who will one day provide quality healthcare to communities across the country.

By equipping health training institutions with modern medical simulation equipment, diagnostic tools and ICT infrastructure, we are strengthening practical learning, enhancing digital education and preparing graduates with the skills, confidence and competencies needed to deliver safe, quality and compassionate healthcare.

This initiative reflects our continued commitment to working alongside the Government of Zambia and the Ministry of Health Zambia to strengthen human resources for health, improve the quality of health professional education and accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage.

We are investing in stronger institutions, empowered young people and resilient health systems that will improve health outcomes for generations to come.

Every health worker trained today represents countless lives that will be touched tomorrow.

Post event reflections from our Innovators; Imove

AFYAFEST 2026 in Dakar, Senegal, was an incredible opportunity to learn, connect and grow alongside Africa's brightest innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and health leaders.

The experience reinforced one key lesson: the best solutions are built through collaboration. From inspiring discussions on health innovation and entrepreneurship to engaging with groundbreaking technologies and community-driven solutions. I gained valuable insights into how African-led innovations are shaping a healthier, more sustainable future.

Representing Zambia was an honor and as a Chemical Engineering student and young innovator, I return inspired to develop practical, technology-driven solutions that address environmental and public health challenges.

Grateful for the connections made, the lessons learned, and the opportunity to be part of a movement driving Africa's future. The journey continues.

Disease outbreaks can only be contained when communities are prepared.

This week, we are supporting the training of 25 Community-Based Volunteers (CBVs) in Chililabombwe on Community-Based Outbreak Preparedness, Ebola Prevention and Response. By equipping frontline volunteers with the knowledge and skills to detect, report, and respond to Ebola and other public health threats, we are strengthening the first line of defence against outbreaks.

Early detection, timely reporting, and effective community engagement are essential to preventing the spread of disease and protecting lives. This training reflects Amref Health Africa's commitment to building resilient community health systems, strengthening health security, and empowering communities to prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies.

Together, we are investing in stronger communities and a healthier, safer future.
