Seventeen Years of Persistence, One Giant Step Forward

On May 4th 2026, Parliament adopted the To***co Control Bill a journey that began in 2008 when Zambia ratified the WHO Framework Convention on To***co Control.

After 17 years of advocacy, determination, and unity, this government has delivered to the people of Zambia a law that will protect present and future generations from the devastating harms of to***co.

This Bill is a shield for our children, guarding them against early initiation and ensuring a healthier, stronger Zambia for decades to come.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Hakainde Hichilema, for his leadership, and to the Members of Parliament for their commitment and courage in standing with the people. Together, you have made history. Now, Mr. President, the Ball is in your court. Make it history by assenting the To***co Control Bill into Law🙏
