How far and When is the the payment for RAMCOZ workers?
We are all aware that as of March 2026, the Zambian government through the Office of the Receiver conducted a data capturing exercise in Luanshya to pay terminal benefits, 2001-2002 Christmas bonuses, and house deductions to nearly 5,000 former Roan Antelope Mining Corporation of Zambia (RAMCOZ) employees
These payments follow previous actions in 2021 when the government facilitated the payment of NAPSA pension benefits to the affected miners.
The Office of the Receiver and Manager launched the data capture in Luanshya, with Payments which included terminal benefits, 2001-2002 Christmas bonuses, refunds for double deductions on company houses, and debts related to court cases.Documentation Required: Claimants needed relevant employment documentation to substantiate their claims at the Receivership office and most people did exactly that with disbursements scheduled for April 2026.
Now the questions that beg answers are How far and When is the payment going to be done?
Like l said last time that this exercise rised alot anxiety among vulnerable ex RAMCOZ workers, surviving spouses, registered dependents (children). Some even borrowed money from far places (villages) just to come back to Luanshya to do this exercise.
My appeal to to the powers that be quickly give information or update on the RAMCOZ payments as soon aspossible to targeted Beneficiaries instead of just going quiet after exciting people that the RAMCOZ money was going to be paid last April.
It is my hope and prayer that this matter that has been outstanding for many years can be resolved once and for all through concerted efforts so the money can help the less privileged in our society.
