The Chikondi Sports Youth Arise Foundation - CSYAF successfully hosted the KidsMove Qualifiers 2026 on 26 September 2026 at OYDC Zambia - Sports Development Centre in Lusaka, bringing together 250 young athletes from schools, community clubs and individual participation.
The young athletes took part in a variety of Kids’ Athletics track and field activities, creating a vibrant platform for children to compete, have fun, make new connections and experience the excitement of sport in a safe and positive environment.
The event was proudly sponsored by the Zikomo Project and Coca-Cola Beverages Zambia, with support from OYDC-Zambia, Lusaka Province Athletics Area Board, parents and Zambia Athletics-ZA Official. Participating teams included Kasamba Primary School, African Preparatory Academy, Kibbutz Academy, ZAF Lusaka, ZAF Twin Palm Kids’ Athletics Club, Chikondi Sports Academy, Star North School and Queens Royal School, alongside individual young athletes.
The event was officiated by Major Bernard Bwalya - ZA President, accompanied by the Lusaka Province Athletics Chairman and Secretary, demonstrating the importance placed on developing athletics and creating opportunities for children at grassroots level.
Young athletes who excelled in the different activities were recognized with medals, while every participant received a medal of participation in recognition of their effort, courage and involvement. Thirty-two (32) young athletes were selected to progress to the KidsMove Championship, while African Preparatory Academy emerged as the overall best team on points and received the KidsMove Qualifiers 2026 trophy.
Beyond competition, the KidsMove Qualifiers were designed to create a platform where children can play, move together, move more, develop a love for sport, explore their abilities and build a lifelong connection with physical activity. The initiative also promotes positive health and wellbeing, teamwork, discipline, respect and fair play.
CSYAF believes that every child deserves an opportunity to move, play and discover their potential through sport. Grassroots sport is not only about producing future champions, it is about building healthier, confident, disciplined and connected young people.
The KidsMove Qualifiers 2026 therefore stand as a call to parents, schools, communities, sports organizations and young people, let us give children more opportunities to participate in sport, start them young, nurture their talents and create a generation that moves, plays and thrives.
