Nyawa United - Behind the Scenes

Nyawa United - Behind the Scenes Humanitarian project promoting gender equality and empowering rural communities in Nyawa, Zambia. This will serve as a meeting place for the local community.

Nyawa United is a humanitarian project that was established in January 2019, with the idea of sending a girls' football team to Norway Cup. The project succeeded in sending Nyawa United to Norway Cup at the tournament's 50th Anniversary in 2022. The team made history by being the first rural girls' football team from the Southern African region to ever participate. In addition to the football team

Nyawa United, the project is in the process of building a community centre with a library close to the football pitch. Building the community centre, which will act both as a sports facility and library, is a continuation of our work in strengthening and empowering girls' and women's rights in particular. Norway Cup kicked off on Saturday, and we can’t help but reminisce about our own participation four years ago. ⚽️

In 2022, the Nyawa United girls travelled all the way from rural Zambia to Norway to take part in one of the world’s biggest youth football tournaments. It was an unforgettable experience filled with new friendships, cultural exchange, and memories that will last a lifetime.

The team also made history as the first rural girls’ team from the African continent to participate in the Norway Cup. 🇿🇲🌍

As this year’s tournament gets underway, we’re especially excited to see girls’ teams from across Africa continuing to be represented. We wish every player the very best of luck and hope they enjoy every moment of this incredible experience.

Fra lek med ball som 6-åring til landslagsspiller. Gjennom fotballen har funnet glede, mestring, vennskap og fellesskap og lært verdien av lagånd, disiplin og det å løfte hverandre frem både i medgang og motgang. Verdier hun også tar med seg videre i livet utenfor banen. Sammen ønsker vi å gi flere jenter denne muligheten. Bidra til byggingen av garderober via Spleis (link i bio) ⚽️✨️

I dag markerer vi den internasjonale dagen for lek, og vi er så heldige å ha fått med oss G**o Bergsvand på laget!

Som landslagsspiller og utenlandsproff er G**o ikke bare en sterk spiller på banen, men også et stort forbilde som inspirerer flere jenter til å delta, drømme og ta plass.

Når jenter er i bevegelse, er verden i utvikling. ⚽️✊

We are proud to be collaborating with our partner, Architects Without Borders (), on the design and construction of the community centre in Nyawa. The project will include a library, multipurpose and co-working spaces, as well as changing rooms that support greater participation in sports among women and youth. The buildings will be inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the local community and constructed using local materials.

Help us bring this vision to life by supporting the project through VIPPS (629142).

In this video, Amy, Anette and Silje visited 's exhibition in Oslo, where the Nyawa Community Centre project was showcased as part of the celebration of the organisation's 10-year anniversary.
