Something exciting is happening at Lilato Community Center! Our tailoring and baking classes are underway, and we are encouraged by the enthusiasm, commitment and determination of the participants.

For many of our participants, this is more than just learning how to sew or bake. It is an opportunity to acquire practical skills that can open doors to income generation, entrepreneurship and greater economic independence. 💪🏾

We are seeing participants eager to learn, practice and turn these skills into sustainable livelihoods. With the right support, a skill learned today can become a business tomorrow and a source of income for a family for years to come. 🌱

Our team successfully conducted an intensive poultry training workshop with our two women's groups as we prepare to launch the Poultry Empowerment Program.

The participants received comprehensive training on: ✅ Poultry management
✅ Feeding and nutrition
✅ Disease prevention and vaccination

We also facilitated a practical session on business management, financial forecasting, and record keeping, equipping the women with the knowledge needed to run profitable and sustainable poultry enterprises.

As part of the day's activities, we visited the proposed chicken house sites in Kazala and Tulyetonje to assess their readiness for the project.

We are encouraged by the commitment and hard work demonstrated by both groups. They are leaving no stone unturned as they prepare to kick-start this life-changing initiative.

Together, we are creating opportunities for women to build sustainable livelihoods while promoting environmental conservation through alternative income-generating activities.

Every skilled tailor starts by understanding their sewing machine. Before making the first stitch, our participants are learning the names and functions of each part, how the machine operates, and how to handle it safely and correctly.

A strong foundation is the key to quality workmanship. By mastering their machines first, they are building the confidence and technical skills needed to create high-quality garments and grow successful tailoring businesses.

🧵✨ Every successful business starts with a single step, and today our participants at Lilato community center took that step by beginning their tailoring skills journey.

Our first session encouraged participants to see tailoring not only as a practical skill but as a pathway to entrepreneurship. Together, we discussed the value of partnerships, saving through a savings group, basic stitching techniques, and the essential tools and materials needed for tailoring.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Monde Sitondo for generously volunteering her time and expertise to lead this training. As an experienced tailor with vast knowledge in tailoring and fashion design, she is equipping our participants with valuable skills that will help them build sustainable livelihoods.

We are excited to see this group grow in skill, confidence, and business as the training continues.

Today, we successfully held our project introductory meeting with two women's groups in Kazungula as we prepare to launch our Women's Empowerment Program.

This initiative seeks to identify women who currently depend on charcoal burning for their livelihoods and support them with sustainable alternatives that help reduce deforestation while improving household incomes.

Through the project, 20 women will receive support to start poultry businesses and participate in training in financial literacy, business management, and entrepreneurship. Our goal is to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to build resilient businesses that benefit their families and communities while protecting our natural environment.

We are excited to begin this journey with these remarkable women and look forward to witnessing the positive impact this program will create in Kazungula.

We had the pleasure of meeting a small group of participants at our Lilato Community Center who will be joining our Tailoring Skills Training Program.

The orientation session focused on the importance of consistency, commitment, discipline, and agreeing on a training schedule that works for everyone. It was encouraging to see the enthusiasm and willingness of the participants to learn a new skill that can create opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

This marks the beginning of an exciting journey. Together, Liseli Initiative and the participants have made a shared commitment to work hard, remain dedicated, and make this project a success.

Today, we successfully concluded our three-day in-house Financial Manual Development workshop. We are delighted to have finalized the draft of our Financial Manual, marking an important milestone in strengthening our institutional systems and governance.

In addition to the Financial Manual, we also developed key organizational tools, including our Asset Register, Risk Management Register, and Procurement Manual. These documents will help strengthen accountability, improve internal controls, and enhance transparency in our operations.

The workshop was highly interactive, with engaging discussions and practical learning throughout the three days. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Keno Institute of Training & Research for facilitating such an insightful training and to the Zambian Governance Foundation for making this capacity-building opportunity possible through their support.

As Liseli Initiative continues to grow, we remain committed to building strong governance systems that enable us to serve our communities with excellence, integrity, and accountability.
