23 amazing youths joined us to paint the two insakas (traditional gathering shelters) at the center, and what a fun and meaningful day it was!

As we painted together, we also had open conversations about gender roles and what young people think about them. It was more than just painting, it was learning, sharing ideas, and building community at the same time.

We wrapped up the day by sharing lunch together and celebrating the beautiful outcome of the painting project. The insakas are now brighter, more welcoming, and filled with the spirit of teamwork and youth engagement ๐Ÿ’›

What is a Healthy Relationship?๐Ÿ’ฌโœจ

Thatโ€™s the question youths in Mulala explored during an interactive session on Healthy Relationships. The conversation focused on the โ€œ3Csโ€ (Consent, Communication & Choices) and how they help young people spot abuse and build balanced, respectful relationships.

The youths talked about boundaries, respect, friendships, dating, online spaces, peer pressure and the importance of making independent decisions ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

From group discussions to open conversations, the session was full of energy, honest thoughts and real-life experiences ๐Ÿ˜…โค๏ธ

Itโ€™s always amazing seeing young people openly learning how to respect themselves and others while building healthy connections with the people around them.

So tell us ๐Ÿ‘€

As we commemorate International Child and Youth Care Week, we celebrate the dedication and impact of Child and Youth Care Workers who continue to create safe, supportive, and empowering spaces for young people in our communities.

This week, some of our Child and Youth Care Workers under the Zambia Association Of Child Care Workers - ZACCW , Southern Chapter, through Liseli Initiative, engaged with youths in interactive awareness sessions focused on gambling and mental health. These conversations are critical in helping young people make informed decisions, build resilience, and prioritize their wellbeing.

We are encouraged to see Child and Youth Care Workers actively engaging with the community, listening to young people, and providing guidance and support where it is most needed. The interactive nature of these sessions reflects the importance of dialogue, trust, and community-centered care in shaping healthier futures for our youths.

Happy International Child and Youth Care Week!

What does leadership really look like in todayโ€™s world?

In our recent session with the Community Youth Ambassadors, we explored this question together, unpacking what leadership is, what defines a good or bad leader, and reflecting on the qualities that truly make a difference.

Each ambassador also shared about a leader who inspires them and why. These personal reflections sparked meaningful conversations and showed the diverse ways leadership can be expressed and experienced.

As these young changemakers continue to champion their individual causes, conversations like these are essential in shaping their values, confidence, and approach to leadership.

We are excited to see how these insights translate into action. ๐Ÿ’ฌโœจ

Sometimes the pressure to โ€œfit inโ€ can lead young people into choices they never truly wanted to make. Thatโ€™s why our session at Lilato Community Center focused on understanding peer pressure and how young people can confidently resist negative influences.

Together, we explored real life examples of peer pressure, discussed practical ways to avoid harmful situations, and encouraged positive decision making. The highlight of the session was the creative role plays presented by the young people themselves hilarious, relatable, and deeply educational at the same time!

It was inspiring to see such energy, honesty, and participation from the youths as they learned from one another in a safe and engaging space. ๐Ÿ’™

What was meant to be a 2-hour financial literacy session turned into an engaging 3-hour conversation with young people at the youth camp hosted by Impact Generation Global Movement. and we loved every moment of it!

The young people were lively, curious, and highly interactive as we explored topics around entrepreneurship, budgeting, and saving. Their questions and real-life examples of how they use money daily showed just how important these conversations are.

We strongly believe that financial literacy should start early. Equipping school going children with financial knowledge today helps build a generation that will grow up knowing how to manage money wisely, make informed decisions, and create sustainable futures.

The future is brighter when young people are financially empowered. ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿคฃ During our peer pressure role play, one of the youths was acting as someone under the influence of alcohol. The way he started walking had everyone laughing ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

After the role play, we asked him, โ€œWhat kind of walk was that?โ€ and without even hesitating he confidently responded:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ โ€œThat was a Makaveli walk!โ€ ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ’€

Safe to say the lesson was memorable, interactive, and full of energy. These young people really know how to keep serious conversations engaging while still driving the message home about the dangers of peer pressure and substance abuse ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜‚

Today, we join the nation in commemorating Kenneth Kaunda Day, a day that reminds us of the values of unity, peace, justice, and service that shaped our nation through the leadership of Kenneth Kaunda.
As we reflect on his legacy, may we be inspired to continue building communities rooted in compassion, equality, and collective responsibility. His belief in humanism challenged us to care for one another and to work toward a society where every person has dignity and opportunity.

At Liseli Initiative, we honor this day by recommitting ourselves to empowering young people, strengthening communities, and creating lasting change through service and solidarity.

โ€œPeace, unity, and hard work remain the foundation of a stronger Zambia.โ€ ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฒ
