From the heart of Chibolya—a sprawling compound in Lusaka often associated with poverty, crime, and daily struggles—emerges a powerful story of hope and transformation.
In a place many call the “dark city within the city,” where overcrowding, poor sanitation, and hardship define everyday life… a diamond has risen.
Meet Mr. Katoka Samunyau—an inspiring young man empowered by MACF LTD to become an Accountant.
💪 A JOURNEY OF RESILIENCE
“My name is Katoka Samunyau from Chibolya in Lusaka, an area known for its challenges. Despite everything, I have always been passionate about improving my life through education and hard work.”
Raised in difficult circumstances, Katoka faced deep financial hardship and lacked even basic necessities.
“Life was really hard. Like many young people, I faced discouragement, uncertainty, and pressure. There were times I could not afford school requirements.”
Yet, he refused to give up.
While at Zambezi Boarding School, where he completed his Grade 12 in 2010, he discovered his passion:
“I developed an interest in Principles of Accounts… and I decided that I would become an Accountant.”
💪 PURSUING A DREAM AGAINST ALL ODDS
After school, Katoka returned to Chibolya with no means to pursue further education. Determined to move forward, he took on casual and menial jobs to raise funds.
He later enrolled with ZICA to pursue a Diploma in Accountancy—but financial challenges once again threatened his dream.

🎓 A DREAM TAKING SHAPE
With determination and excellence, Katoka passed his exams and is set to graduate at the ZICA Graduation in September 2026.
Today, he is employed as an Accountant and is advancing toward the Chartered Accountant Zambia (CA Zambia) qualification—now able to support his own studies.

“My long-term aspiration is to become a respected Chartered Accountant. I want to grow professionally, become impactful, and inspire young people facing similar challenges. I also want to contribute to community development and help others believe in their potential.”
