Together for a ❀️

Today, as we commemorated Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, Pad-A-Girl Campaign Zambia, in partnership with Play it FORWARD, donated sanitary pads to girls at Mwandi Community School in Livingstone.

Beyond the donation, we shared conversations on dignity, confidence, and breaking the silence surrounding menstruation. Every girl deserves access to menstrual products, accurate information, and a supportive environment where periods are treated as a natural part of life β€” not a source of shame.

We remain committed to ensuring that no girl misses school or loses confidence because of her period.

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, partners, and everyone supporting the fight for menstrual equity. Together, we can build a world where every girl manages her period with pride and dignity. πŸ’™

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRESS STATEMENT ON INTERNATIONAL MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY 2026

Theme: Together for a

Issued by:

Executive Director
Pad-A-Girl Campaign
Livingstone, Zambia

28th May 2026

As the world commemorates International Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 under the theme Together for a , Pad-A-Girl Campaign joins the global call for collective action in ending menstrual stigma and promoting menstrual dignity for every girl and woman.

Menstruation is a natural part of life, yet many girls continue to face shame, discrimination, lack of sanitary products, and limited access to menstrual health education. This continues to negatively affect their confidence, health, and education.

As an organization, we believe creating a period-friendly world is everyone’s responsibility. Menstrual health is not only a women’s issue. Men and boys also have mothers, sisters, partners, daughters, colleagues, and friends whose lives are affected by menstrual health challenges.

We therefore call on men and boys to actively join the conversation around menstrual health and hygiene. Their involvement is key to breaking harmful myths, ending stigma, and building supportive communities where girls and women can manage their periods with dignity and confidence.

We also urge the media, schools, community leaders, policymakers, and cooperating partners to continue promoting accurate information and creating safe spaces for open conversations on menstruation.

Today, we call upon everyone to take action, educate others, support menstrual health initiatives, donate sanitary products where possible, and speak openly against period shame and misinformation. Together, we can ensure that no girl is left behind because of her period.

Let us all work together towards a . 🩸🌍

For years, Pad-A-Girl Campaign has remained committed to advocating for free sanitary pads in schools.

Today, we are encouraged to see this vision begin to take shape through the distribution of sanitary pads to learners.

This milestone reflects what is possible when advocacy meets action. We commend this progress and look forward to strengthened collaboration to ensure sustainability, consistency, and nationwide reach.

Together, we can ensure that no girl misses school because of her period.

Today we celebrate the amazing youths powering Pad-A-Girl Campaign Zambia as we commemorate International Youth Day.

Your passion, courage, and commitment are helping us fight period poverty, keep girls in school, and protect them from early marriages and teen pregnancies.

This year’s theme, International Youth Day 2026 Theme: Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond, perfectly reflects what our young volunteers do every day, turning local action into life-changing impact for girls in our communities.

Tag a youth volunteer making a difference in their communities and celebrate them today!

PAD-A-GIRL CAMPAIGN ZAMBIA DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY OVER EXPLOITATIVE RHETORIC

25th February 2026
Press Release

Pad-A-Girl Campaign Zambia expresses grave concern over statements made by Mr. Mathias Musumali on Podcast YATU, which appear to encourage the targeting of female students for sexual purposes and promote degrading narratives about women.

We view such remarks as harmful, irresponsible, and potentially inciteful. Public platforms must not be used to normalize predatory behavior or to trivialize exploitation.

We call upon relevant authorities and regulatory bodies to examine this matter with the seriousness it deserves. Freedom of expression must never be weaponized to endanger vulnerable groups.

Institutions of higher learning must remain safe spaces. Any conduct or commentary that threatens the dignity, safety, or psychological well-being of students must be addressed decisively.

Pad-A-Girl Campaign Zambia remains committed to advocating for policies and enforcement mechanisms that protect girls and young women from exploitation in all its forms.
