PLAEP PLAEP is a Christian community-based development organization operating in Zambia, helping children and adolescents access education, skills, and support.

We empower vulnerable communities through sustainable programs and invite partners to make impact. Partners for Life Advancement and Education Promotion (PLAEP), is a faith based non-profit organisation located in Kitwe, Zambia. The organization started in 2005 to partner with others in addressing the devastating effects of HIV in Kitwe communities and beyond. PLAEP core activities include HIV/Aids prevention services; economic strengthening initiatives for low income communities and individuals, particularly women and girls; livelihood and education support for orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs).

MONDAY IMPACT | Empowering Livelihoods

At the SHARPS Close-Out in Kitwe, various items, including tailoring machines and smokers, were provided to support livelihood activities and create opportunities for individuals to put their skills into practice.

Beyond the items handed over, this initiative represents the importance of equipping people with practical resources that can help them pursue income-generating activities and work towards greater economic independence. As PLAEP reflects on the SHARPS programme, we celebrate the steps taken towards strengthening livelihoods and building more resilient communities.

“A child who knows where they are going begins walking there early.”

Yesterday, we held our Career Day at Musonda Community School was more than just dressing up, it was a glimpse into the dreams taking shape in young minds.

Our pupils showed up in different professional attires, proudly representing what they dream of becoming: doctors, teachers, engineers, pilots, business leaders and so much more.

For a day, they didn’t just talk about their dreams; they stepped into them. 👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏽‍✈️👩🏽‍🏫👨🏽‍💻

Yesterday, 1 October in Kitwe, we closed one chapter of the SHARPS Project but the impact continues.

PLAEP, KCIA, the Kitwe District Health Office, health facilities, peer supporters, beneficiaries and partners came together to reflect, learn, share testimonies and celebrate the journey.

From sexual and reproductive health information and psychosocial support to treatment adherence, referrals and economic-strengthening initiatives, SHARPS has walked alongside pregnant and breastfeeding adolescent girls and young women, creating spaces for support, knowledge and empowerment.

As the project comes to a close, the stories, lessons and relationships built remind us that meaningful change doesn’t end when a project ends but the impact lives on in the people and communities it has touched.

We are grateful to every partner, stakeholder, peer supporter and beneficiary who made this journey possible.
