Tikondane Community Centre

Tikondane Community Centre Tikondane is a grassroots Community Centre run for and by the people of Katete in Eastern Zambia.

Tiko Lodge gives a very warm welcome to visitors and volunteers, a chance to immerse yourself in the local community and culture ... the Real Africa! Brand new website currently under construction, please check it out at https://tikondane.org

We provide primary education in the lively community school, and literacy and English lessons for parents and adults. We promote better health through HIV/

Aids testing and counselling, health workshops and training, education on nutrition and smallholder farming, and a village outreach programme of home-based carers. We run income generating activities (IGAs) for staff to learn practical skills whilst developing an independent source of income for themselves and Tiko.

Pure joy today at Tikondane as our children meet the watchdog’s puppies for the first time. We can’t keep them all—feeding so many isn’t feasible—, our community is very poor, but we will assure every puppy will find a loving home. At Tikondane we teach our kids to love animals, show kindness, and treat every creature with respect. 🐶💖

Our recent meeting between the Home-Based Care team and the Pocket Money Children highlighted the incredible impact of their vegetable rings, which are providing both nutritious food for their families and a steady source of income. Many children are now managing multiple rings, allowing them to sell surplus vegetables and save money for essential school books and supplies. However, while many are thriving, others shared the challenges they face due to a lack of resources specifically the black plastics and worm tabs needed to create Hot 18 Berkeley Compost, as well as a shared interest in building pigeon cotes. We are committed to helping everyone overcome these hurdles and look forward to seeing everyone’s progress at our next meeting on 16 May 2026. 🌱💰

Our early childhood students love singing with their teacher! Music works wonders. At Tikondane, we feed these kids every day with food, knowledge, and fun. Would you like to join us in continuing to educate the little ones? Visit https://zurl.co/8XeiN to read more about us and how you can help.

Help bring clean, reliable water to Katete, Eastern Province, Zambia

In Katete, clean water is becoming increasingly scarce. Drought has dried many wells, remaining sources are often muddy or contaminated, and the few boreholes are overused and breaking down. WOMEN WALK LONG DISTANCES CARRYING HEAVY BUCKETS ON THEIR HEADS - AND FAMILIES RISK ILLNESS FROM UNSAFE WATER.
WITH YOUR HELP
https://zurl.co/aOay1
We can:
-Clean and deepen existing wells
-Repair broken boreholes
-Install new boreholes and safe water points
Our goal is to ensure every family in the community and nearby villages has access to safe water close to home — reducing illness, saving time, and restoring dignity.
Please join us. Any contribution helps: donate, share this campaign, or start a fundraiser of your own. Together we can make a lasting difference for Katete families.♥️
