Today we celebrate the strength, dreams, and potential of young people across Zambia.

At WISE Zambia, we believe that when young people are given the opportunity to learn, grow, and be supported, they can overcome even the most difficult challenges.

This Youth Day, we are proud to share the inspiring journey of Bilika Agness, a 24-year-old student at Mongu Catholic College of Education.
Bilika’s childhood was filled with hope and encouragement from her parents, who always reminded her that education was the key to a better future. However, when she was in Grade 8, she lost her father. His passing brought emotional pain and financial hardship to the family, and continuing school became uncertain.

Despite these challenges, Bilika remained determined to pursue her education.
In Grade 11, her life changed when she was selected for the WISE Zambia Scholarship Programe. Through this support, she received assistance with school fees, learning
materials, mentorship, and guidance that helped her stay focused on her studies.
With renewed confidence and determination, Bilika successfully completed Grade 12 and is
now continuing her journey at college.
Along the way, life presented another challenge when she became a young mother. It was not
easy, but through mentorship, encouragement, and resilience, she learned that motherhood
does not mean the end of dreams.
Today, Bilika continues to work hard toward building a better future for herself and her child.
In her own words:
“WISE Zambia gave me hope when I needed it most. They reminded me that my dreams are
still possible.”
As we celebrate Youth Day, Bilika’s story reminds us that when young people are supported through education and mentorship, their potential becomes limitless.

There are many more young people across Zambia who simply need the opportunity to stay in school and pursue their dreams.
Together, we can empower the next generation.
Join us in celebrating and investing in the future of our youth.

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day by honoring the strength, leadership, and potential of the girls and women in our WISE Zambia community.

From the classroom to careers in fields like engineering, technology, and education, these young women are breaking barriers and building brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their country.

At WISE Zambia, we believe that when girls are given opportunity, support, and encouragement, there are truly no ceilings to what they can achieve.

Here’s to the students, mentors, mothers, and leaders who inspire us every day. 💜

“My name is Maneko M., and I was born and raised in Kaoma District, Western Province. I am the fourth of six children, with two brothers and three sisters. Growing up, my parents struggled financially to meet our basic needs, as they were small-scale farmers.
In 2019, I became a WISE Zambia beneficiary, which eased the burden on my parents by covering my school fees and other needs. I graduated from secondary school in 2023 with a full Grade 12 certificate, made possible by the support of WISE Zambia.
I’ve recently been accepted into the School of Mathematics and Natural Science at The Copperbelt University; November 2024 intake. My dream is to become a biomedical scientist.
I am honored to be part of WISE Zambia and look forward to contributing to your mission of helping other vulnerable children. Thank you!"
