A new school term begins for our boys at Don Bosco Makululu. After the break, they are back in class — ready to learn, grow, and move one step closer to a better future. 🏫💙

In Zambia, the school year runs from January to December and is divided into three terms. For many children, education is not guaranteed. Poverty, overcrowded classrooms, and a lack of basic school materials remain daily challenges. Still, education is the strongest tool to break the cycle of poverty.

At Ciloto, we believe education goes beyond lessons and exams. We support our boys holistically, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and values they need to build an independent and dignified life.

Every day at Don Bosco Makululu, our boys are learning, playing, healing, and rebuilding their lives — one steady step at a time. From the early morning prayer to evening rest, each moment is part of a bigger journey toward safety, growth, and a brighter future. 🌱

Here's a look at how simple daily routines are shaping lives:

🛏️ Routine & responsibility: From chores to study time, the boys take an active role in creating stability, fostering community, and developing responsibility — key for healing and growth. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

🍽️ Meeting basic needs: Each day, the boys actively prepare, serve, and share their meals together. This simple routine fosters a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and unity, while ensuring they receive the nourishment they need to grow, heal, and thrive as a community.

📚 A chance for education: Many of our boys will be the first in their families to complete school, breaking the cycle of poverty and creating opportunities for themselves and their families. 📖

🏀 Teamwork & play: Whether it’s football, volleyball, or dance, the afternoon Oratory is where the boys come together to build confidence, teamwork, and strength — all while having fun!

At Don Bosco Makululu, our current and former pupils show the world what courage, talent, and resilience sound like. Each trumpet, drum, and trombone carries their hearts, their pride, and their journey.
