WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU EAT CHICKEN OR BEEF FROM AN ANIMAL THAT DIED FROM A SNAKEBITE?
In general, snake venom isn’t harmful if swallowed because it’s made up mostly of proteins and peptides that your digestive system can break down. For venom to be dangerous, it usually needs to enter the body through a bite or injection, not by being eaten.
Unless you have open wounds or sores in your mouth or digestive tract, swallowing venom is unlikely to cause any problems. Cooking the meat would also help destroy any venom present, as heat breaks it down even further.
What’s more important to consider is how long the animal has been dead. If it’s already started to rot , then the meat may no longer be safe to eat.
You should also avoid eating meat when the exact cause of death is uncertain. Just assuming it was a snakebite could be risky as the animal might have died from poison or a disease instead.
Whenever possible, it’s safest to eat meat from animals that were properly slaughtered under controlled and known circumstances.
