Happy Mother’s Day from Enlight Abilities 💐

Today we celebrate _all_ mothers.

To the mothers raising children with disabilities: your strength, advocacy, and love change the world daily.
To the mothers of children without disabilities: thank you for raising kind, inclusive hearts.
To the women with disabilities who are mothers: you redefine what is possible and show us motherhood has no limits.

Motherhood looks different in every home, but love, sacrifice, and courage are universal.

At Enlight Abilities, we see you. We honor you. We celebrate you.

My body belongs to me.

Every child, including children with disabilities, has the right to safety, dignity, and to say no.

At Enlight Abilities, *Child Safeguarding* is one of our core pillars. We believe teaching body autonomy is fundamental to protecting children and building truly inclusive communities.

Let’s raise a generation that knows their rights.

Happy Labour Day from Enlight Abilities!

Today, our team proudly joined the Labour Day celebrations at DK Stadium in Chipata. Led by our Program Officer, Tom Bwalya, Enlight Abilities youth trained in human rights stood alongside their peers to commemorate this special day.

This year’s theme aligns perfectly with our mission of inclusion, dignity, and empowerment for all. We were honored to have the area Member of Parliament and Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Ruben Mtolo, as Guest of Honour.

We also had the chance to showcase the services we offer at Enlight Abilities — highlighting how we are creating opportunities and breaking barriers for persons with disabilities.

Huge thanks to Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia and Liliane Foundation for making this impactful day possible.

Happy Kenneth Kaunda Day, Zambia!

At Enlight Abilities, we pause today to celebrate and appreciate President Kenneth Kaunda — a father of the nation who embraced disability not by words, but with real action!

KK taught us that true leadership means leaving no one behind. He believed it. He lived it. From policy to practice, he opened doors for persons with disabilities to learn, work, and lead.

Though he is gone, he is dearly missed but his spirit of unity and inclusion still guides our mission every single day.

Let’s honor KK not just with remembrance, but by continuing to build a Zambia that is accessible for all.

ENLIGHT ABILITIES LIVE ON BREEZE FM | YOUTHS WITH DISABILITIES IN GOVERNANCE

Today, 16/04/26, our CEO and disability advocate Mr. Miyoba Hamuhuma, together with fellow leaders in the disability movement, featured on a powerful phone-in program at Breezefm.

The big question: How do we ensure youths with disabilities take an active seat at the governance table?

The interactive session unpacked real challenges that have sidelined youths with disabilities for too long:
1. Inaccessible venues & information that shut people out before the conversation even starts
2. Negative attitudes & low expectations from society
3. Lack of resources like transport, sign language interpretation, and assistive devices
4. Few role models in leadership spaces to show it’s possible

But here’s what our CEO made clear:
“Getting youths into politics isn’t about dragging them in — it’s about removing barriers and showing them their voice actually counts.”

He challenged all of us to celebrate youth-led wins loudly. When young people with disabilities push for change and it happens, we must broadcast it. Those victories light the path for others.

To Breeze FM — thank you for your consistency and courage in amplifying the voices of persons with disabilities. Your platform is helping shift mindsets, one conversation at a time.

At Enlight Abilities, we believe governance without youths with disabilities is incomplete governance. The table is big enough for everyone. Let’s keep pulling up chairs.
