We Are Award Winners for 2026! 🏆

We are live and honored to share that Enlight Abilities has just received the Visibility and Social Media Award at an event currently happening hosted by Hlanganisa Community Fund, a South African foundation.

This recognition celebrates our commitment to using digital platforms and community engagement to drive awareness on GBV and inclusion for women with disabilities, mothers of children with disabilities, youths with disabilities, and persons with albinism.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Hlanganisa Community Fund for their support and mentorship. Special appreciation to Jackie and the late Comrade Sibanda for the guidance that shaped our work.

This award not only recognizes our efforts, but also opens doors to new partnerships and opportunities to scale our impact across Zambia and beyond.

Strengthening Partnerships for Greater Impact

The Eastern Province Cluster continues to build momentum through the Eastern Province Cluster Coordination Meeting under the Building Effective Networks [BEN] MAP Project, hosted by Caritas Chipata.

The meeting brought together consortium partners: Enlight Abilities Organization, Caritas Chipata, Mpangwe Development Foundation, and Chipata Cheshire Home. Together, we reflected on progress, shared experiences, discussed implementation challenges, and exchanged best practices from project activities across Eastern Province.

Through open dialogue and collaboration, partners identified practical solutions and agreed on key actions to strengthen programme implementation. Our focus remains on advancing disability inclusion, child safeguarding, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights [SRHR] for persons with disabilities.

This project is supported by Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia, with funding from the Liliane Foundation.

We sincerely appreciate the commitment of all consortium partners. Together, we are building stronger networks and creating more inclusive communities where every person has the opportunity to participate, thrive, and realize their full potential.

Today, Enlight Abilities was honored to host the Mambwe District Development Association at our offices.

The visiting team included both board members and staff. Their purpose: to exchange experiences on Resource Mobilization through local initiatives.

Both organizations are proud partners of the Zambian Governance Foundation (ZGF), and ZGF strongly encourages this kind of peer-to-peer learning.

The engagement was truly enlightening. We walked away with fresh ideas and clear areas for collaboration going forward.

Today, Enlight Abilities is once again in the news! 🎉

A big thank you to Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) for shining a light on our work and amplifying the voices of Persons with Disabilities.

At Enlight Abilities, our dream is simple but powerful:
A free, fair, and violence-free election where Persons with Disabilities can participate fully — without fear, without barriers, without being left behind.

When polling stations are accessible, when information is in sign language & Braille, when PWDs are included in every conversation... that’s when democracy is truly for all of us.

Celebrating Strength, Advocating for Inclusion!

On 13/06/2026, Enlight Abilities Organization, with support from the Zambian Governance Foundation, proudly joined the commemoration of International Albinism Awareness Day at Vumbwi Primary School in Vumbwi District.

The event was hosted by Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia in collaboration with the Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities. We were honored to have Dr. Mwape, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Eastern Province, as our Guest of Honor.

Together, we stood with people with albinism, celebrated their talents, and reaffirmed our commitment to inclusion, dignity, and protection of rights. It was a powerful day of awareness, unity, and hope.

Thank you to all partners, government representatives, and community members who made this day impactful.

Recently, Pastor Andreas Sohl, Director of AG Freiwilligendienste im BFP in Germany, visited their long-time partner, Enlight Abilities Organization, as part of the Worldwide Volunteers Program. The visit was for a new volunteer program under the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, placing young German volunteers on projects related to agriculture, art, and nature conservation.

Enlight Abilities was tasked with identifying new partners, and one potential partner identified is Kauzu Game Ranch in Chipata.

Today, CEO Miyoba Hamuhuma followed up on this partnership and also shared with Mr. Patrick Chirwa aka Teleka details of another upcoming project on skills development and cross-border trade. This project targets traders with disabilities and is in partnership with an organization in New York, USA.

Mr. Chirwa, skilled in arts and crafts, has pledged to train youths with disabilities in the arts and promote inclusive tourism at his ranch. Through this partnership, he hopes to see more children with disabilities access his facility.

The two organizations have agreed to work together to make the ranch a dedicated facility for arts training.

Today, we proudly celebrate 8 years of Enlight Abilities!
For the past 8 years, Enlight Abilities has remained committed to empowering children, youths, and persons with disabilities through inclusion, advocacy, education, mental health support, accessibility, and community transformation. What started as a vision to create a barrier-free society has grown into a movement of hope, dignity, and equal opportunities for the most vulnerable in our communities.

We are grateful to our dedicated team, volunteers, partners, donors, parents, and every community member who has walked this journey with us. Your support has helped change lives and restore hope to many families.

As we celebrate this milestone, we renew our commitment to building an inclusive Zambia where every person, regardless of ability, can live with dignity and reach their full potential.
